Default Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel Trim - TMC Motorsport

Hi - I just took delivery of my F-Type and am the unfortunate victim of the sticky interior. The Steering wheel trim got the worst of it. During the cleaning process the previous owner, or dealer wrecked the plastic trim finish below the sticky bits. The upper and lower trim, to be precise, Parts 2 and 3 below (NOTE: Part 2 is not available for purchase through Jag)

Now to the root of the question - has anyone used https://www.tmcmotorsport.com/ to buy these, unless the forum has had bad experiences:

How do you remove the bottom trim piece on the wheel (at the 6 o'clock position) without removing the airbag cover?

Just a gentle pry from the back straight out. Here's a pic so you can see the backside clips:

Has anyone removed the upper trim piece? I'm about to do that one, but it's making me nervous.

Thank you! What is the part number for this piece? Can't seem to find it on jaguarparts.com

Also, do you know if the gloss black trim ring on the steering wheel is replaceable? Mine has a small ding in it that's bothering me now that I've basically replaced everything else in the cabin. Where can I find the part number for that one? Dealer is under the impression the airbag cover, trim ring and airbag are all sold as one unit.

Jaguar Reno has the part:

TMCmotorsports.com sells a carbon fiber kit.

I've seen aftermarket horn cover rings, but nothing through a jag dealership. Not sure where - maybe aliexpress.com ?

I'm also curious to know if any one had done this?
Can it just be pried out like the bottom piece, or does one need to remove the airbag cover?

Yep! Did this a few weeks ago. It wasn't too difficult but it did take me a while to figure out the proper leverage for the clips holding it in.

I was able just to use a smallish flathead screwdriver. There are clips on either side, rotate the wheel either way 90 degrees and slide your tool of choice into a slot you will be able to feel on the back. Basically, the clips are 'pinch' style, so you will be pushing the clip towards the center of the steering wheel until it unclips. Do this for either side and the airbag comes right off with no hassle.

Make sure you disconnect the battery and wait 5 minutes. Also, be careful with the wiring harness in the steering wheel, not sure about yours but mine was a little brittle when pulling off the trim piece.

Did you have to remove the airbag to install the steering wheel trim?

I'm also interested in this mod. Does anyone have a video on the install? Don't want to break the little clips

Is that TMC kit for the normal wheel or the flat bottomed one?

Did anyone ever get the upper trim removed? Do you just pull, or does the airbag have to be removed?

Airbag has to be removed to remove the upper trim

TMC is just a reseller for Koshi Group who makes these products, you can go to Koshis website to look at their entire lineup. As far as I can tell the carbon pieces that go over the leather only fit the flat bottom wheel.

I purchased from TMC and all CF parts clip on to the existing surfaces. I did not have to remove original parts. All fit rather well. Fulfillment is very slow so you have to be patient.

That looks very nice! If the parts don't 'feel cheap' and wobble around. Visually super cool.

From the original pictures it looks like its a very thin piece with adhesive that go over the existing pieces. Is that not the case?
