Default Carbon Fiber Wheel Inserts - Removable?

Is there a way to remove/replace this carbon fiber inserts? Has anyone accidentally broken one and had to replace it? I looked on the back and they don't bolt on, I'm assuming it's probably some kind of clip. I really hope it's not glue.

I need to remove them in order to have the wheel lips repolished - my previous owner wasn't super careful around curbs. 😕

Yep, they come off real easy, I took one of mine off a few years ago to check if it was real CF or not (it is real).
Two small bolts/screws into the back of each one, from memory "square" socket around 1.5 mm wide.
I'm guessing you couldn't see these on yours due to all the brake dust!

Here's a pic of one of mine from the back side:

Oh that's brilliant, you are a gem. I will wash them and find those. Thank you!

Glad I could help!
By the way, I have had my left front wheel lip/edge refurbished twice now (just like you due to gutter rash) by two different mobile wheel refurbishers and neither of them saw a need to remove any of the CF inserts, they are skilled enough to work around them.

Locally they want $250 a wheel to refurb Gyrodynes that have a few rashes. What are they clipping you for out in the wild northwest?

I recently had mine painted, and they took all of them off for that. I asked the shop to paint only the visible bits, spare the barrel and lip, which they did. I posted some pics in the sticky picture thread if you want to look. Per the comments, not everyone liked my painted version, but I love it. Your mileage may vary. They did the whole job for $500, which I thought was very reasonable.

$125 if it's just lip polishing, no paint. My local driver's club negotiates discounts on stuff like that for us.

On your car with the polished trim accents and stuff, I think that looks fantastic.

I have the 20" five spoke that also have inserts - I'd like to fix some curb rash on one of mine - only the shiny part needs polishing - who did you use? I assume you shipped to them, yes? thanks
