Default Cell Phone Holder Solutions

I would like some input from owners as to how they “mount” cell phones in the cabin of their F-Type.

Vent holders aren’t a good option. There is no real good place to mount in the center console and I have yet to find a windshield mount that seems good. Any good ideas folks?

There are many threads here related to that:

If your car has Carplay, get the dongle that allows wireless connection, then you do not even need to mount your phone - just drop it in the door pocket or keep it in your pocket ??
Personally I never take mine out of my pocket.

There is no need for a phone mount, is there? My phone stays in the door pocket and is automatically connected. There is no need to physically handle the phone either to dial or to answer, at least on the 2015 model.

If you have an iPhone 13 (did 12 have it? I'm not sure). I bought a magsafe mount from Scosche.

I mounted it above the screen and in front of the vent.

The logic is to use the vastly superior smartphone navigation over the built in navigation.

Not sure I understand your point, Takeapieandrun.
You do not need to look at your phone to use its nav.
Once connected to Carplay you get to use Siri and Waze for navigation on your Jag. display/audio.
Anyway, it is downright dangerous trying to read your cell phone while driving, so all you get direct from your phone is voice directions.
And, as previous you do not need to have your phone accesssible if you use a dongle for wireless connection.

Many people like to have their phone more readily available due to the F-Types clumsy infotainment system and questionable or non-existent carplay support.

I agree on this.

I'm wondering, did the infotainment change at all with the different year cars?

I guess so, because the system in my 2021 is fine and includes CarPlay.
I did not realize that CarPlay is a relatively recent addition.
JLR is behind the curve on all thess modern electronic doodads!!
God bless their all-electric future.

Some later MY18 models were fitted with the 10" screen (no physical buttons) which supports AA and CP.

2013-early 2018: No carplay support.
2018 on - many reported issues with losing connectivity if not plugged in.

Heck, I can't even gets text messages on my car. That was something that was available on older model cars that I've owned. Not a show stopper for me as that's not the point of this car.

I could get text messages read out with the OEM system. Now I have fitted CarPlay I get WhatsApp read out too.
I too have the Scosche mount fitted just in front of the rising vent. Only put the phone there now for long journeys for charging and to display other than what’s on the CarPlay screen.

I agree, I ride a motorcycle as well so I am used to just listening to directions with my helmet bluetooth

However, many would like to see the visual cues, which I also enjoy so I can turn off the voice prompts which I don't particularly enjoy. I also don't have CarPlay (hoping to solve that with an Android head unit one day).
