Change Infotainment
talked about changing the infotainment system and how there was no decent one in market was looking around kenwood dnx893s look promising have to wait till it come out to see it, specs wise look better than pioneer units and jvc
will the new Kenwood include A/C functionality?
To the best of my knowledge Kenwood always did this year they gonna expand it with idata pioneer unit don't mostly
That's why I like Kenwood the new one was delayed since may cause of Apple certification and I believe it's cause it's the first dual core unit, it's going to be out 24th this month hopefully

Unfortunately it doesn't likely that this receiver will work with our cars -- the iDatalink Maestro RR product that it uses to integrate with the factory system does not support Jaguars.

A) I was thinking of how to "hack" the DVD "no play" at speed. I would love my wife to be able to watch a movie on a long road trip without holding a tablet, etc (or dealing with getting movies offline, easily/simply).
B) I would love to see google maps traffic info, or Waze, or both. I hate my phone and apps and don't spend much time interacting with it. But I do use Google Now crossed w/ Google News and Weather, and traffic. It's basically all I look at for this damned infernal Bay Area traffic patterns that have me waking at 4.30a to beat commute, and leaving work at 2-ish to beat commute (and it doesn't even beat it).....
BUT... there is one thing I totally realize....
It's crappy. It's laggy. It's outdated. But I get why. It's just the same reason a $250,000 Range Rover has huge rubbery, grippy, obvious buttons and knobs... because you shouldn't be taking your eyes off the road while off roading.
Okay this is turning philosophical, but....
I was EXTREMELY worried when I started shopping for this car, because you look at a car like Tesla, which is basically an ipad with apps. People are on the phone and zoning out enough, in traffic. A car of any power or performance should really have the user wholly concentrating on the road. That being said, I thought it would be a slick, high brightness and color "app driven" console. I was profoundly relieved to see it was not... it was a low brightness, flat and boring screen. Surprised it was a touchscreen, I was thrilled the UI was deliberate and slow, such that I can change the airflow without having to look at the touchscreen whilst doing it. Some touchscreens move fast, are distracting, too bright, etc. The fact you can turn ours off and see a lovely analog clock is the most refreshing thing about it.
So, yes... the lack of functionality (like having directions without accurate traffic? Really??) has limitations, but keeping the entire thing simplified and basic, basically slow, means we get to enjoy driving with fewer distractions. At least IMHO.
I know it's not helpful, but just in case people weren't thinking of *why* this design was integrated, I am pretty sure it's because this is a sports car about driving vs the internal bells and whistles.
And yes, I am aware it's just that it might be poorly designed and implemented. LOL

Nvidia drive looks promising maybe not everyone want one that's ok put as option, but you saying that a laggy and none functional system is a good thing idk bro, it's like telling me you still using a flip phone cause it's slower and without function so it forces you to focus on other things

I stumbled accross this. Let's you mirror your iPhone or add another source. Not sure if it's of any use?

I could see mirroring if my phone was in my pocket but here, charging, I can't think of a better solution @ $21.
I use my phone for calls, music (except sports radio), and WAZE nav, I use infotainment for whatever else. Lag is of no bother when you're using it for Mydynamic.

I have yet to pick my car up, but it looks just like the system in my 2016 Range Rover, though I did notice there did not seem to be a voice command button, then I was told there is no voice command. That I found odd. my RR had heads up display which I think would have been nice on the f type, but I use waze for directions, and stream Pandora for music so as long as that stuff works I'm fine
The infotainment system in the F-Type is the same one used in the XF, XJ, LR2, LR4, etc, etc, and in the other models voice control is an option, why they left it out of the F-Type is a mystery to me.
I suspect that it may be possible to activate it, but there is one thing missing, the button on the wheel for voice...
The switch pack from the wheel does look very much like the one from the XE and the new XF, I wonder if it might be possible to swap the switchpacks and activate the function.... hmmm....
