Default Class of 2016 Warranties expiring

I’m getting calls from dealerships wanting to discuss extended warranty. Haven’t taken any calls yet. I would like to at least have my mobile app continue to function. My expiration is in August. I have less than 15K on the odometer. What are you guys in the same situation doing about extended warranties?

If you end up buying one, make sure it is factory extended warranty from Jaguar. Third-party "warranty" is insurance that is designed to deny coverage.

I decided not to buy extended warranty, as dealer would need to CPO car for that and it is a hassle. The best I could find is $3.5K deal plus fees for 2 more years. YMMV.

As a CPO holder, one thing to consider is how hard it is to undestand the coverage. The warranty lists 165 inspected areas that passed to certify the car, but those areas are not related to what is covered, only sort of a teethless statement that they were fine at the time of certification.

What is covered is a little nebulous, more qualitative based on the failure mode than quantitative based on covered components. It covers "sudden and unexpected mechanical or electrical failure."

So comparing a third party warranty to CPO seems difficult at best.

I bought extended at dealer but from Red Shield. I would never do it again! They treated me like a crook with a a recorded phone call trying to catch me saying something so they could not fix car. They denied 2 out 0f 3 trhings dealer wanted to fix, accusing them of padding job. These are things Jag fixed no questions asked on warranteed cars. Dealer balked so they sent an inspector, paid by Red Shield, to still deny. After market is a scam, Red Shield leading the way.

Hi, my JLR Waranty also ends soon. For one year the dealer want to see 800 €, for two years 2.000 €. That´s too much for me, even the new warranty is from a third party. The list of the not included parts is much longer, than the list with the included.

I am in UK, could be different in US.

Over here my MY2016 F type (manufactured March 2015) only had three year manufacturers warranty.

When it was due to expire in 2018 I made enquiries, I found that even extended warranties linked to from Jaguar UK website (not dealers) were basically an insurance policy, didn't seem worthwhile to me.

The mobile app for remote lock unlock, starting etc can be extended annually from Jaguar, it's about £30.

My Jaguar remote app will indicate when the subscription is due to expire and offer an option to renew it, it's not dependent on having warranty.

I actually bought a MY16 CPO, so it has a extended factory warranty for another two years. Even so, I have such a problem getting the complimentary scheduled maintenance annually; I have to "convince" dealers that it should be covered (https://www.jaguarusa.com/owners/ser...-warranty.html) . And I'll be honest, I really don't know what my extended warranty covers...

The CPO warranty, in fact, is extensive and covers almost every system comprehensively. A year ir so ago I posted photos of the pages from the (Canadian) CPO warranty brochure. I can send them to this thread again when I have access to my computer. OR you could try to find the warranty brochure from your national Jaguar firm.

Of course they're calling to sell you an extended warranty; how else are they going to make their boat payments.

When I purchased my XKR from the JLR dealer I also purchased an extended warranty they Alliance 3/36. It was 3 grand and worth every penny. I had the front crack seal replaced, water pump, coolant hose and those bills where more then the money spent. I didn’t have the XKR for more then 6 months and traded it for the F-Type. They refunded me over 2 grand of my money back (prorated for length and miles). Best money I ever spent.
I also purchased 3/36 warranty on my F-Type and hope I never have to use it ! But if I do, it’s peace of mind.

Wanting an MT, there’s nothing I’d be able to trade in for.

Mine expires this coming august but a pulley, sport cats and tune helped me end that quicker and it was 100% worth it.

I have an insurance + coverage that does not cost much more than a "normal" insurance. It covers all brakedowns in engine, driveline and electronic components until the car is 7 years old.
On last service I was told that the water pump had a leak, and they strongly adviced me to replace it. I contacted my insurance company, and was told that they would cover the cost (minus a minor fee).
Very happy with that arrangement, so no worries for the next couple of years 😉

is that through your insurance company? I’m not to worried about the engine and transmission, especially since I’m modded but I’d like to get a warranty for the components such as water pump, starter ect. As my dealer said they would still fix all that stuff under current and extended warranty.

Has anybody in the US done this recently?
"factory extended warranty from Jaguar"

I have a MY16 R AWD, factory warranty is good until 05/2021 or 8800 miles, but I am concerned about going warranty-less. Trade in after or close to warranty expiration might be an option, but I doubt I'll be able to afford an R again. I guess I could stop worrying about it, and wait and find out.

I got a quick quote from Endurance for Supreme Coverage, 5Y/81k miles = $5,301, or $285 down and $140/m for 36 months. Mine is a 2016 base with 26,000 miles.

I got 3 extra years and 40k additional miles For $3200 from the dealer. Bumper to bumper except for obvious wear & tear items. It took me 5 years to put that much mileage on the car to date, so that will more than enough to cover me. I passed the contract past an atty who confirmed that modifications made prior to the contract date would not invalidate coverage. I guess that IC radiator won’t be going in for another 3 years.
