Clear Bra vs. Paint Fade
A good PPF such as Suntek or Xpel is less noticeable, the more you hide visible edges and seams. In other words, the film itself is rarely detectable! What people with a keen eye will notice first are the exposed edges or seams, which then draws their attention to the presence of a film. So a hood that is done with a half bra, and without the edges wrapped will be more easily detected and apparent than a full hood with wrapped edges.
OK...got the car back this morning. Overall I have to be quite pleased with the job (detailer remarked, along with a smile, "glad that job is over"). As others have said here, it is barely noticeable. I will look more closely at the job my guy did - and there are a few what I would call microscopic specks scattered about the hood (and we're talking a few here and there and one has to look quite closely to notice them; my guy said "he hopes that they will come out after heat/sun hits the hood"...and he's assured me he will follow up. I am not concerned) - but even my friend who owns a Mazda dealership here (and has personally owned over 300 sports cars over the years) said he did a great job.
Total cost, including Maine tax, came to $2,020.00 using Suntek (and driving home being "wrapped" did provide me with a little extra piece of mind; and I am not one to be overly concerned about road crap hitting my cars). For that he did:
Full Hood
Fenders
Mirrors
Front Bumper
Grille
Head Lights
Rocker Panels (which also required him to remove the splash film which came on the car)
Bottom of doors, just above the rockers
I'd post some pictures but, really, there's not much - anything - to really see.
Best regards,
