I noticed that my car has what looks like a small triangular piece of protective film right above the rear part of one of the side sills. These come with the car OEM. You can also use any clear aftermarket film, cut to shape. If you leave them off, you will have rock chip/pits in a matter of weeks. They are called Stone Guards, and OEM are ~$75-80 which is a rip-off. You can look up part# T2R11830 & T2R11829.
