I've had 4 Jaguars (2001 XK8, 2004 XKR, 2010 XKR and the current F-Type) and have found them to be no less reliable than other cars I've had. When I got the XK8 I kept my ultra reliable Nissan Almera "just in case", and have hardly used it since. The old stories of Jaguar unreliability are just that - old.
I'm concerned there won't be enough low miles 2014s and 2015s left if I ever wear mine out.

Thanks for the map. Might be difficult to navigate that tube unless the tip is designed appropriately.

And as I have discussed on the XF forum, how do you know the right/full/max oil level?
How far up the extraction tube / down the dipstick? Lots of dumping and refilling with oil and trial and error I would guess.
How could you tell if you have inserted the dipstick all the way, especially given the resistance you are bound to encounter?
As far as I can tell the only way would be to get a precise measurement of the length of the extraction tube, including bends.
What about smearing of the oil on the dipstick as you extract it? How do you get an accurate measurement?
So many questions, so few answers!
Not meaning to be overly negative, just playing devil's advocate, I too would love a manual dipstick that worked and was accurate!

First, I would rely on the electronic gauge (as I have for 5 years) to fill the engine to full when it is cold. I would then insert the dip cable as far as possible and mark it at the top of the suction tube. If I see an oil level when I pull it back out, I’d mark the cable at that level. If no oil Iine, then I’d abandon the effort.
