Default In Control issues past few days

I was wondering if anyone other than myself has had issues with the Jaguar In Control working. For the past few days I cannot get the In Control to do anything. It appears it is functioning fine but if I try to remote start the car or just unlock the doors it says something like "connection issues". My car is a 2016 and not sure if the app no longer works, the subscription expired or an issue with their service lately.

On a 2016, I assume you're limited to 3G (I am on my MY17 F-Pace). If so, that's probably your problem. 3G is being sunset. There's no good alternative except to use your phone as a hotspot. It works for Nav, but still won't fix the issue with remote start, etc.

The internal modem that controls the remote app is a 2G modem buried in the car and that should still work. The 3G sunsetting applies to the user SIM card slot in the upper armrest. That modem on MY18 and older is 3G and won't work in most places around the US now.

You can check your subscription expiry dates in the app.

AT&T stopped servicing its 2G network back in 2017. Verizon Wireless phased out its 2G CDMA network at the end of 2020. Sprint sunset their 2G CDMA network in December of 2021. T-Mobile plans to sunset their 2G network in December of 2022.

I got curious and opened up the app yesterday.. Under Security it showed 'Driving". Ummm....... no, it's parked in my garage where it has been for the last couple of weeks on the CTEK charger and with the doors locked. Furthermore when I click on the remote tab it says Vehicle in Use All remote features are unavailable. and Vehicle Asleep Last updated 1 wk ago.

One thing I have noticed is that if the vehicle is locked up and not started for more than about 4 days, it goes into the Sleep mode and then the remote features like Unlock or Start do not work. The car must be started, at which point it resets the Sleep mode and the car will respond to the remote features for several days before it goes back to Sleep again.

Why it shows the car is Driving is a mystery though, and the Location still pinpoints it at my home on the map feature.

If you know when you're going to want to unlock or remote start the car you can set the wakeup timer (within 48 hours of using the car!).

2G service is still available in many parts of the country. While carriers may not be servicing the equipment, the spectrum is still available for use (for now). It will eventually sunset everywhere.

Is that because you're still on V1 and it's prompting you to download V2? V1 has been disabled, much to my irritation, as I preferred the interface to what they've done in the "improved" version.

This is where my tech knowledge is lacking. The car has sat/nav. Does it need a cell tower connection for the nav to work?

Nope. It forced me to download V2...it continues to force the download every.single.time.

That's weird, V1 insisted I download V2 but V2 starts up fine now I've downloaded it, it's now at V2.11.0. I still prefer the V1 UI.

What I do like about the v2 version is I can login to it with my fingerprint.

MY18 (even with the old 8" ICTP) has a 4G modem as it turns out, just needs a new SIM, dealer swapped the sim on my MY18 R and it started connecting via 4G

I was having all sorts of InControl issues as of a few weeks ago too. JLR customer service said there was a TCU version issue (even though I was running latest InControl firmware, I guess TCU firmware is seperate), dealer went through a TCU recovery (they were about to replace the TCU) and that fixed InControl completely for me, back to work perfectly... maybe see your dealer?

So this is something that can updated at the dealer to get it fully functioning again? My MFG warranty is gone but I have an extended warranty which should cover it if there is a fix.
