Default Creaking performance seat inserts

Did anyone else experience that the area around the silver inserts in the new performance seats creaks? I rarely notice it while driving but usually get a bit of creaking while getting in our out of the car because you usually push your upper back into the seat then.

If you push on the insert or right next to it it creaks and I'm thinking about whether to ask the dealer to try to do something about it or whether to fix it myself. It sounds as if some surfaces rubbing against each other could use some automotive tape. If I knew how to remove the inserts I'd probably try covering its inside edges with automotive tape.

This is the insert I mean:

Funny you should ask - I was just considering this tonight due to having to get in/out/in/out/in/out while changing the footwell lights. Mine creak from the plastic trim pieces along the bottom, same area on both seats, and it's more annoying than one would think.

Ok, a different thing then. Mine only creak around those silver inserts. I think I remember seeing on a UK F-Type forum that someone had creaking from those bottom plastic trim pieces and solved it by stuffing in some sponge pieces.

Nope, I have this issue too. It’s been like that since day one. I’m not sure how to remove those pieces either otherwise I would do something like you said and add some tape or foam

Ok, sounds like a case of "They all do that sir" then. Fortunately doesn't really bother me and doesn't creak that often.

Try using a syringe to squirt some neatsfoot oil around that piece.

I would be extremely careful about using neatsfoot oil. I suspect that if any were to leak out around the insert it would stain the leather. A solution that I have used on a holster that was creaking where the belt ran through the slots was to rub in some neutral colored shoe wax/polish all around the slots. That lessened the friction and the creaking noise went away.
You might try rubbing a bit of the wax on to a hidden spot first and make sure that it doesn't discolor the leather. If good, maybe use a small artist's brush and work it in around the edges and behind the insert.

Same inserts on our F Pace, but fortunately no creaks.

Hmm, the inserts look the same but I don't think the whole seats are identical to the F-Type performance seats which may be thinner.

I don't have this new seat but the inserts are all attached the same way as far as I know. It should be just unclipping the back of the insert from the front half with your fingers then unscrewing the anchor points of the front half before removing the front portion. Then just wrapping the contact area with felt tape and reinserting the same way. Happy to be corrected if wrong though.

Problem solved - sprayed some PTFE along the edge between the back of the insert and the plastic seat back and the creaking is as good as gone.
