Default Custom Tread Plates Discontinued!!

Hi all,

I recently purchased my second f-type. My previous car had the light up custom tread plates that could be ordered directly from Jaguar. I have found links to the regular light up tread plates. However, I want a customized set with my last name.

Apparently the custom tread plates are no longer an option that can be ordered from a dealer. Does anyone have an idea if these customized treadplates can be obtained anymore? The car is a 2016 R if that info is needed.

Thanks.

I never knew you could get them customized.

Yes, custom illuminated tread plates had been an option for quite a few years and not just for F-Types. I'm not surprised that Jaguar discontinued them. Optional parts are in short supply these days. I'm no longer able to purchase replacement carpeted floor mats for my 2015 F-Type R. As near as I can tell by comparing the floor mats with those from my 2018 F-Type the distance between the securing holes might be 1/2 inch or 1 cm different. That's it! Nor can I find any stainless dead pedal (for one's left foot) except for US$400+ on the internet. Why Jaguar didn't equipped its vehicles with a heavy vinyl, plastic, or metal deadplate instead of bare carpet befuddles me. Retrofitting optional parts to my 2023 F-PACE SVR is impossible. The tow hitch, illuminated cargo sill, and carpeted cargo mat that we had on our 2018 F-PACE S simply aren't available on any F-PACE newer than 2021. An SUV that can't tow is ridiculous. So, we keep our 300ps 2018 E-PACE to tow the 3,500 pound boat & trailer that our 550ps F-PACE can't. The factory hitch can be installed; however, there is no provision to plug in the towing module and illuminated cargo sill. I suppose that I could hotwire trailer lights and illuminated cargo sill but what would that do to the Canbus? I could probably also trim the carpeted cargo mat to fit. Yeh, right! However, I recently (i.e. within a month ago) purchased and installed a pair of Jaguar illuminated tread plates. I can't fathom why anyone would want the customized, illuminated tread plates. I certainly wouldn't buy a used vehicle that has someone else's name on a part that must be destroyed in order to remove it. Yes, the double-sided tape that secures the tread plate to the sill has a tenacious grip such that the former tread plate is completely destroyed in the process of removing it. I no longer have photos of the result but it was ugly and, quite frankly, a PITA to remove for a part that is simply a pop-off & pop-in part on other Jags we own. Do yourself a favor and buy the illuminated Jaguar door sill instead of the personalized one.

Thanks for explaining all that!
I don't think we have ever seen a posting about these before.
I guess it was only an option on the F-Type? But they should fit anywhere the lighted sills do so that would mean all the other Jaguar models.

Is this the foot rest you are referring to?

Yes, illuminated Jaguar door sills were available for both of our 2015 F-Type S & R, 2016 F-Type S, 2016 XF 35t Prestige, 2017 XE 35t Prestige (only for black interiors - ours was white), 2018 E-PACE P300 R-Dynamic, 2018 F-Type R-Dynamic, 2018 F-PACE S & 2023 F-PACE SVR. I didn't retrofit the XF as I'd have to remove some trim on the passenger side. It was more work than my lazy butt was willing to do. I didn't retrofit my 2015 or 2016 F-Type S' because I didn't feel like it. Regardless, our 2015 F-Type R and 2018 E-PACE were retrofitted. Easy pop-out and pop-in for the E-PACE but, as previously stated, a PITA for the 2015 F-Type R. The 2018 F-Type and both F-PACEs came equipped with the optional illuminated Jaguar door sills treads. One can even retrofit a mirror with a Homelite garage door opener. Plug & play. But Jaguar won't change software code in order to retrofit auto high beam assist. Also, disconnecting the auxiliary battery for the stop-start feature also disables the LED cornering lights in my 2015 F-Type. Other squirrely things also pop up. And don't make the mistake of replacing headlamps on a 2015 that lack cornering lights with headlamps that do have the feature. The plugs match up; however, the HID lights won't rise. They will, instead, point at the ground immediately in front of the car. Ask me how I know.

As an aside, back in the old days when I owned nothing but Toyotas I was able to retrofit practically every option that was available for a particular vehicle. Just pop off the blank on a panel, find the hidden plug, install a switch, and replace a headlamp or whatever with the desired option. It all worked because, in those days, Toyota used one wiring system to include all sub-harnesses, regardless of whether one ordered a basic model or top-of-the-line model. Retrofit an LED was simple - no codes thrown or other abnormality. More recently, Toyota decided to do without sub-harnesses.

Yes. The Jaguar website refers one to dealer inventory. I've yet to find a Jaguar dealer that has one and I'm told they are completely out of stock in the U.S. and elsewhere. I've retrofitted them to all of our Jags except one because the only one I can find is US$400+. If you know where one exists please let me know.
