Default Dallas to Palm Springs

So I'm planning my first major road trip in MY16 V6S 6sp. I will be driving from Dallas to Palm Springs, CA and back over the course of about 10 days or so starting January 16th. I should cover about 2,743 miles round trip.

I plan on doing the drive to PSP over of 4 days with the first leg from Dallas to Santa Fe to spend the night with some friends. I'll then drive from Santa Fe to Phoenix for 2 nights with some more friends. I'll cut the corner off I-40 and head southwest thru some of Arizona's National Forests. Then on Thursday the last stretch to PSP for a long weekend with some more great friends.

Leaving Monday the 23rd back towards Dallas, but I will drive to Prescott, AZ and spend one more night where I went to college to check out my old campus which I have not seen since I graduated back in 2003. The final leg will be a cannonball run all the way from Prescott back to Dallas which I did several times in college.

I'm really looking forward to stretching her legs. Any advice from you guys that have done major road trips in your F would be greatly appreciated. Any owners along the way?

Stop at the Salton Sea! Beautiful beaches, ATV rentals. Hang out where the Rat Pack and all the celebrities used to go. If you like what you see and want to stay you can trade the F-type for a dozen homes.

I recommended the Ski Inn.

Just be careful as you approach Palm Springs, very well known speed trap just outside city limits. By the way, Aqua Caliente is the big casino just east of the town, and while I don't gamble, it does have beautiful rooms and great grounds.

I would think a drive through Joshua Tree would be fun.

Yeah. Grew up in Plano but live in Uptown now. We should get together for a drive.

I did the Joshua Tree route from Barstow,Ca to Palm Desert many time to visit my mother. Great fun, a little more hairy at night but still fast! Driving from Vegas this route also saved me 45 min.
