Default Dealer experience

Well had a good talk with my salesman and it didn't end well.
Offered me the coupe at a 2% discount. He also in indicated he would only give me
whole sale value on my car.
A 2% discount comes to $1400. I told him I wanted 4%. No way.
He also told me he searched all the Jag bulletins and could NOT find the $2500
discount, although he is familiar with the $1000 discount.
I told him I would contact him in 8 or nine months with they are willing to deal, unless I find something else.
Take a look at Palm Beach Jaguar. They have there Verts discounted $8 or $9 thousand dollars. I may head south and grab a loaded vert.

I'm also going to check out the new Corvette.

Did he offer 2 percent on the Coupe only? How about on verts? It is quite common for dealers NOT to deal on brand new, high demand models. You probably have to wait at least 6 months to start getting deals on the Coupe. Same with the Corvette. You can get the base model now for 2-4K off the sticker but, if you want the Z51 you will have few choices and likely have to pay sticker since there is a production shortage on that option.

Good luck,

Albert

I didn't mention the verts. Checkout Palm Beach jaguar. Some of there verts are reduced as much as 8 to $9000.I have vert now. Don't know about another one especially the truck room. I'm going to look at the corvettes. Who knows maybe I will stick w/my Audi 2011 S5 vert.

I have not seen the coupe listed for the $2500. I will have a look later & update this post. I just looked at the bulletin, it ends 3.31.14. So you will have to wait until next quarter to see if the new program includes the coupe.

I am going to wait for one with <10,000 miles used. I am thinking maybe 2017 F-Type R white with red interior. The price is about 105k without carbon ceramic brakes - I do not track my cars so no need for this option in my mind. If I dont track the car, why pay more for em? I am hoping in 2017 with the RS and RS-GT out by then so the demand will be low for "just the R".

It will be interesting to see if the coupes languish on dealer lots like the convertibles. I'd imagine they would.

Are the Vert’s languishing on dealer lots on the East Coast? They don’t appear to be sitting on lots here on the West Coast.

My local dealer has 10 in stock right now. At one point they had 14, more than any other model in the dealership. I'm also hearing stories (from the West coast as well) that they are selling for just above invoice price, which would seemingly corroborate the idea that they are not selling well.

Then again, most Jags don't sell well. The XK never sold particularly well, did it? There are plenty of those sitting around, too!

Of course, just looking at the number of cars on the lots isn't really a full story of how well a car is selling. But this is the sense I get.

There are quite a few in the LA area. Hornburg has 47 in inventory across their multiple stores in the area. Rusnak shows 40 in inventory. Galpin lists 12. When I visited them in November they had over a dozen up on the roof and a couple more in the showroom.

So just across those three dealers in the area, there are 99 available (or listed).

Autotrader shows 172 available within a 100 mile radius.

I do see them on the road though too, so they are selling, just not sure if maybe supply is surpassing demand, or the supply has been keeping up with demand. Jaguar did just have their best year ever basically doubling sales every single month compared to the previous year.

60 to 100k cars don't exactly fly off the lot. As others say, Jaguar sales are sharply up and the F Type seems to be doing OK with a couple of thousand sold in the US in the first half year or so on sale. You're not paying any more than invoice for BMWs or Mercs out here either in fairness.

Keep in mind for a new Corvette, GM dealers are asking 5-10k over msrp. I think you can get a decent discount on F Type convertible in East Coast (due to weather) but I have no idea about the coupe.

There are tons of Vettes. I considered it over the Ftype in October and there wasn't one place selling over MSRP. Some were at a slight discount.

There are a ton and yet most dealers around here are still sticking to their $10k over MSRP strategy. I still can't fathom how anyone would take a potential $25k (~15k first year depreciation) 1 year loss on a vehicle where 30,000 are made each year. I like the C7 a lot, but I hate the dealerships. They are being rather obnoxious with the C7. Jaguar dealers have been much more accommodating whenever I've gone in.

I feel bad then for any idiot that would buy over MSRP when you can get one under and have it shipped for 850

After a 6 month wait I expect to pick up my V6 S in March. Am looking forward to the 300 mile drive home from the dealers! Those of you in the US don't realise what an easy time of it you have buying cars! Mine is costing $155,000! Who knows how long I would have to wait for a Coupe. At least I should have a few months in the convertible before Winter hits. The car would cost even more in Australia with their luxury car tax. I think the whole world is envious of your car prices and speed of delivery.

True. But I would guess NZ is a fantastic place for a hot convertible. Get ready to smile a lot.
