18.5 average, 15.3 minimum, 22.4 maximum

These were all fill-up calculations, i.e. tank was less than half full. I usually wait until it's lower than 1/4.

For comparison, the average indicated MPG reading was 19.9, or over 7.5% optimistic.

 

I didn't care, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good the gas mileage can be. On a recent trip from Sacramento to Truckee and back, with the cruise control at 77 mph, I average 29.6 both ways...in a V8R. obviously half the trip was downhill, but the other half was uphill.

Commuting to work, 13 miles of surface streets each way, I have been averaging 23=24. I was expecting 13-14. It's amazing how goof this 550 hp car can do when it's just humming along.

CAVEAT: If at any point on my commute I really get on it, I will see my average drop dramatically. Leaving the street outside of my work at full throttle for a short while will lower the average by 4-5 mpg for the whole trip...and it's very much worth it.

 

 

On the highway at 75MPH I average 28MPG in a 2015 Type R. About 18MPG overall which I think is outstanding.

 

No but I care about range. Would love 2 extra gallons in the tank. What sux is to be the one guy that is constantly asked by other rally goers "how are you doing on gas?" LOL

I simply tell people that ask me this question that the Jag does better mpg than my wife's mundane Lexus SUV - but with triple the fun!

 

I keep a log of every fill up (old habit handed down by my father from back in the days when you could write off gas). I'll do the math later and see how close to reality it is.

 

No, gas mileage is secondary. If I wanted gas mileage I wouldn't have bought a performance ordinated car. My little Hot Rod, gets 29 miles per gallon, at 75-80mph without breaking a sweat. It's nice to drive the wheels off it, and still be able to get economy car type mileage. But it definitely wasn't the intent. I Believe in Drive it Like You Stole It!

Here's my real world mileage, using distance driven and gallons filled for my first few tanks of gas:This is a mix of commuting to work, a 200 mile road trip and various little runs, including the runs to the store for every little things during the first week of ownership, with dynamic mode turned on and manual shifting.

166 miles, 10.1 gallons. 16.5 mpg
333 miles, 16.6 gallons. 20.1 mpg
171 miles, 8.6 gallons. 19.9 mpg

Total
670 miles, 35.3 gallons. 19.0 mpg

I haven't factored in my latest 200 mile freeway trip where the car indicated 28.4 mpg.

As many pointed also said, I honestly didn't care about fuel economy when I bought this car and am pleasantly surprised at how good it actually is. I could easily see averaging 25+ mpg in the real world on a trip from Sacramento to Seattle on the freeway. Twisties...not so much.

 

Don't care! I do use Costco. I'm retired and put about 4500 miles on it last year so it is probably moot anyway. We tend to fly now everywhere, even LA.

 

If I cared I wouldn't have used four V12's and four V8's as daily drivers over the last 30 years or so!

I do keep the trip meter on average fuel consumption though and usually see something starting with 16 between tank fills. I have no idea how much fuel costs though. I just fill the tank, confirm that I have finished on the app on my phone which sorts out payment then drive off.

 

 

I got a hell of a laugh the other day when my friend calculated that we might have a hard time getting 200 miles out of a tank that day

 

Nope; couldn't care less.......but then my car isn't a DD and sees relatively low usage (too many other vehicles) and I have a small corporate fleet so my personal fuel consumption is relatively minor in any case. I ride my motorcycles more than I drive the Jag and they get 50 mpg so I guess it all evens out!

How do you get the display to show in this configuration? It does not seem possible in my '17 SVR.

 

I'm with you SVR, how did he get that screen to appear between the tach and speedometer? I have an '18 F type R, standard dashboard layout and can't figure this one out. "eeeeek", what's the recipe for this??

 

Click Menu, then up or down to get to get to Display Settings, 'OK', Info Panel, Trip Summary.

I usually have the display in the bottom where the date is show the instant MPG, but I switched it for the picture to show the date.

At least that's how it works on my '16 R . I can get the same configuration on my SO's '18 Range Rover Velar.
