Default Dodge Challenger Hellcat

Is it just me, or is anyone else kind of fascinated by a 707 horsepower vehicle?
It also has available active cruise, heated AND cooled seats, heads-up display, heated steering wheel, and voice command. Of course, a usable trunk, back seat and a manual transmission are good as well. I'm not thinking about replacing my R Coupe, but when I need more space or less of a "worry factor" about where I'm parking, this might be a good alternative.

I saw an article that dyno'd the Hellcat. It made 20 more hp...(727), which is nuts but I'm not much of an American car fan myself.

Yes of course. I already have a nasty high horsepower 70's muscle car and this reminds me of it. There is something a little blase about the Challenger however. Most people won't give it a second look going down the road.

The other issue with all of the high HP cars (including my Jag) is that there is rarely a chance to use the HP outside of a track event. That limits the fun factor... Not sure if I would buy into the Dodge name for that.

Not to mention the quality issues and terrible dealers that brand has...

Anybody not impressed by 700 HP has issues. That said, it's not the car for me. Would love to borrow it for a weekend though!

I wouldn't trust a dodge at any speed that would utilize anywhere close to that HP. Pretty unattractive car as well IMO.

Good topic for the Chrysler forum's although I believe their forum's are dominated by maintenance and quality issues so not sure they get to discuss horsepower much.

700hp is a laudable engineering accomplishment, but without the suspension and steering to match it's like sitting down for dinner and whipping out a chainsaw to cut your steak. It's a free country and you could do it, but i'm just not sure why.

I like the 700hp benchmark and the car is a beast in many ways- just not sure I can wrap my arms around this car just yet. Id much rather get the 2015 Z06 and yes I know they are cars in different segments but my view is more along the lines of: Should I get a domestic?

Is there much call for heated seats and steering wheel in Memphis?

I remember making snowmen in the Florida Keys as a kid, but that was an exceptional year...

Every on-ramp I go on would disagree with that.

I really like a heated steering wheel the few months out of the year here in Memphis when it is cold--and I'm still wondering why Jag decided not to give us cooled seats in our F Types for the hot months.

I think it's a really ugly car. Just my two cents. The old classic challengers are awesome though.

If I wanted to get a new car in that flavor, I would get the new Vette.

By looking at your sig either you have a dream list of cars or one of the best garages in the country! Love the list of cars.

With the Hemi's legacy for its "peel-your-kidneys-off-the-back-seat" straight-line acceleration, it's great to see good 'ole ground pounding is back in fashion. It was never about having to turn back then...

Well Im chiming in because the wife loves the new baby jag, LOL. So that means I can get a toy and being a Mopar guy that Challenger is (for American iron) and awesome car. So much so I am seriously considering selling my Charger and buying one.

Now the other side of this is there are are least 2 guys on the Mopar forum that bought F Types and when it was released it did have its own post. Also, the Mopar forum is all about quality issues either.

Either way, I could see a new Jag and a new Hellcat in my garage in the future.

The Hellcat is cool. I don't think I could do another two door again though with two kids.

Not the least tempted by it. I tend to stay away from cars that have "base" models that dilute the model line. One of the reasons I'm willing to pay a lot of monies for cars because they looks special. Jaguars look special in most instances. The Hellcat does not looks special apart from its base models.

Also, it is considered an old fashioned muscle car that also does not tempt me. I prefer my cars to have more rounded characteristics with looks, power and decent road handling, not only straight line speeds. If I were to spend an other $70K and leaning towards an American made car, it would be the Stingray, preferably stepping up to the ZO6 for a few more pennies. That car will eat the Hellcat for breakfast and just about everything on the road costing twice its price. Hmmm... may just put a deposit on one... :-).

You'll have to wait as I heard they suspended sales while they work out undisclosed issues with the car. Might be the grenading engines or a few other things I've heard about.
