Default Does the JTB495 patch work on 2017 F type R?

Hi guys, just picked up a 17 F type V8 and noticed it doesnt pop as much as the cars I've seen in videos. After some research, it seems there's a patch the dealership can apply to fix this. It's not clear if this patch works on the 2017, or if my car even needs it in the first place? How can I check if I need this? I also don't want to tune since it has a warranty. Thanks in advance for any advice.

How have you checked for pops? Technique is to put it in dynamic and S, manually select 2nd gear, accelerate to 5000 rpm and lift off. That should do it.

Is it a coupe? I thought the same about mine until I was in a tunnel with the windows open. With windows shut it's relatively tame .. inside!

As mentioned above the pops can be made on demand with a technique to let off from Reba then just blip the accelerator gently every couple of seconds.

As others have said, Dynamic mode and pop the shifter over into S if you haven't done it will make all the difference in the world. The first couple hours I had mine I was in dynamic but left the shifter in standard mode and heard a couple pops, but overall it was pretty tame. Once I popped into sport shifting it was a whole new ball game. And if you want to be really obnoxious to other drivers, pedestrians, etc. do what scm outlined above and then just VERY lightly feather the throttle when you let off (like seriously barely tap it) and you can keep the pops going for ages.

My 2016 R used to pop and crackle until Jaguar applied software update, and now it barley pops at all. Maybe the same happened to your car? I have tried to get Jaguar to reverse the update but no luck at the moment.

The patch they applied is

So I have a 2017 f type r awd also bought it abs it was a crackling evil ******* from day one but after having a front left flat tire replaced at jag with our asking they ran some sort of software update including the old unpatched version and all the pops and bangs from over run were gone. Took it back to jag and showed them a set of screen shots from this forum with the updated JTB495 patch they agreed to look into it a few days later they applied it after literally breaking down the entire process to them which I found https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f-type-x152-72/f-type-r-exhaust-noise-pops-189453/

or here

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-189453/page3/

long story short it was better but not back to normal so I slapped on a quick silver exhaust and boom back to normal and then some louder better low idle and over run crackles back to full audacity. Anyway hole that helps feel free to reach out to me on ig too @thomas_keal Cheers
