Default Does this SC coupler/isolator need repair? (video)

I am in the middle of the pipes work and I am not sure if this is a bad coupler or not. My car has no rattles, only 1 clunk on engine off which I thought is normal.
There is a small 1-2 millimeters play with little force needed to turn, then the SC starts to move.

Thank you!

@J444G Thanks for posting - you are an inspiration to all us DIY'ers about to tackle this!

The SC play you have I believe is normal with the original spring coupler. However that play can grind down the shaft. I would check the shaft for wear while you have it out.

Check out @waldo's installation of the solid ZZP coupler and the shaft wear he found:

Thanks, well, I kinda don't want to open the SC if I don't have to to be honest, because there is a hassle with the silicon, and even if I open it I don't know if it is bad or not...

Agree @J444G there's enough to do already. I think the consensus now is the OEM torsional coupler is preferred over the solid.

What is the hassle?

Is the supercharger top cover sealed with a silicon?

Asking for a friend.

Yes it is, and I am unable to say if the coupler is fine anyway..

I have asked superchargersonline about it and they say 1-2mm play is normal, so I guess I am fine?

Yes it is, .
Well, actually it isn't/shouldn't be...the OE gasket looks like this..

Funny, when I called around looking for one, a NAPA guy said "Do you want the RTV sealer instead?

@J444G Carry on with your repair. We are learning much from your journey. Your SC snout is all good.

Good video about replacing the SC coupler (and other things):
Yes, I know, it's a 2010 XFR (almost identical to my old 2010 XFR, same Kyanite blue!) but still the same AJ133 SC as in the F-Type (save for some very minor revisions since 2010).
They show how hard it is to get at the coupler and why the SC needs to come right off to do the job.
Also Tom Lenthall, one of the most knowledgeable and experienced Jag tuners/mechanics on the planet explains how an SC driveshaft that has been chewed at by a dodgy coupler is not a problem.
Spoiler alert - just after they stitch it all back together and give it the beans the dreaded timing chain stretch/slip strikes and grenades the engine.
