Default Does your f-type have this windshield molding gap?

I noticed this gap between the rubber trim at the base (outside) of my windshield on 2014 v-8 s. It appears that the adhesive had loosen its strength over time and created a gap that's about an eight of an inch. I tried using several windshield adhesive compound to repair it but after a few weeks, the piece would peeled up again. Does anyone know if having this piece not complete sealed onto the windshield glass could cause any damage to the car/engine area? As far as I could tell, there's been no leakage. It just looks unattractive.

No, that shouldn't be there. It's caused by excessive glue being applied during fitment possibly.

Looking at the marks on the plastic shrouds, I would say you have definitely had a new windscreen at some stage.

Whoever replaced it, did it with some haste looking at the fit/finish unfortunately.

I must admit that those scratches and glue stains were the results of me trying to close the gap with adhesives. I suppose the biggest concern is will the existence of the gap cause damage to the car through water getting in there, or is it just a aesthetic problem at this point?

If you can't get it to stick down, put a bead of waterproof silicon to close the gap, the type you would you in a bathroom or kitchen. It's flexible and will fill that kind of gap fairly easily

Ok understood. The gap will do no harm, but debris will eventually buildup and you'll wished it was stuck down and finished off.

Exactly, just a 'finger full' should be enough to put a small bead along the gap.

The waterproof silicon seem to do the trick. Thanks for the suggestion.
