Default Drivers Seat Mod For Leg Support

I have a 2016 FTR so I have the Sport Seats with adjustable torso bolsters. Generally, I find them to be very comfortable and supportive. My preferred setting for the seats (most car seats) has always been as low as possible with the front of the seat as high as possible. Even then, on a long trip my right leg got a little stiff / sore. Not bad, but annoying. To address that, I thought I'd try tilting the seat bottom a little further than stock. Since the back can't go down any further, I raised the front by replacing the front bolts with longer versions and inserting a spacer (~ 5/8") between the front of the seat rail and the floor. It's a very simple mod and it eliminated my problem, all for far less than $10 in parts.

To prevent others being mislead the stock seats in a 2016 F-Type R are called Performance seats while the stock seats in a base model are called Sports seats. So cwisenheimer has the Performance seats not the Sports seats. Of course it was possible to option up the Sports seats to Performance seats, and the same trick with spacers might work on Sports seats as well for all I know.

Sounds comfortable, but I'm a bit OCD I guess and wonder if that will make it more likely the seat could break loose in a bad crash. If you didn't already, you might want to look for grade 8 bolts, highest strength, not Home Depot generic, for the front and rear bolts (there are 4 per seat, right?). Google "bolt strength rating". Metric may be rated differently? Sorry if this is obvious.

I considered that but decided that it was a small risk. The two rear bolts are still stock, btw. In a rear-end collision, my seat is adjusted against the rear bulkhead, so it's not going anywhere. In a frontal collision, I've got the seat-belts and an airbag. Also, in that frontal collision, the front bolts would only fail under shear but the rear bolts and seat rail locating pins will take most of that load. Considering all that, I decided my comfort was worth the small added risk.
