Driving gloves?
Ok both of those make sense. While I have callouses from powerlifting, I keep them relatively smooth so hadn’t thought of that. I remember the one time I drove my dad’s skylark with that big plastic steering wheel in summer and gloves probably would have made the drive better.
Yes, I saw those, but they are not driving gloves.

For Pbarb, this site indicates that for men driving gloves are "a real gentleman must have, devilishly stylish, and the ultimate accessory for the dapper man"
For ladies: "trendy, elegant, and a real show stopper".
Nothing about sweaty or rough hands?
jaguny,
THANK YOU Friend,
I had no idea they made buffalo driving gloves. I do know buffalo was the strongest leather, I just wrongly assumed they were too stiff for driving gloves. After you mentioned it, I looked it up, I am buying nothing but these driving gloves.
Even For the JAG, here is why: the only time I need gloves in the Jag- when I would have to handle something dirty and not have a place to wash my hands before getting in the pristine interior.

Those will work. Slighly less cost than the Italian gloves.

Then you need driving chaps.
Everybody is suggesting chaps to me lately! My husband wanted me to get some for the motorcycle. I got leather pants instead. Need to try them on and hope for a break in the rain soon.
You have the right end of the stick. When folks over do it, they tend to lose the plot. Like cowboys who go crazy on embroidery. It makes one wonder if it is for the cattle or the fact they have been away from their wives for so long.
Women are straightforward, they wear makeup as war-paint to compete with each other.
We wear driving gloves to compete, or subconsciously mimic our alter egos- father figures, such as Erik Estrada.
And then we create a righteous pragmatic rationale why driving gloves are important.
There is also a renaissance of men closing the gender gap and allowing themselves to dress up.

Ok, there was some serious backlash (possibly unwarranted, but understandable) against the driving gloves and particularly the driving underwear (warranted and definitely understandable) , but I found a website with likely a broader appeal for the discerning driver wishing to accessorize. There are some retro cool googles for the vert drivers. Maybe PPbarb? Jay, maybe if we get anymore overflow, the picnic baskets could be a BYO. Let the comments fly.
