Default DRL update 2017-2020

So. He talked about the 5 min mark that Valeo has been producing new headlamp units with the fix already done. He talks about the last model number from them should have it?! Anyone know what that model number might be?

loth

Amazing post. No doubt many will appreciate this information. I enjoyed just getting a bit more detail on the issue.

Thanks for taking the time to post that up.

Why not just post a question to the originator of the YouTube video about the model number?

HAHA..because im an American and Tim Atkinson hates Americans... and he went off on me in a Jaguar forum because of Trumps tariff's and then kicked me OUT of his group.....Shocking.....and all I said was that people shouldn't run and sell off their Ftypes in the US until a better tariff percentage was agreed upon by both sides. huh! As if I was Trump himself ??

The guy is car smart but an idiot. Hates one man, the leader of a country he doesn’t live in - so therefore he rules out the intellectual, technical, business, and manufacturing capabilities of that nation. Ok, good for him for so sternly living his beliefs…

Thanks OP for posting the video. I've been in touch with Tim on WhatsApp for 6 months and he's done an incredible amount of work to help us resolve this issue so hats off to him. By putting this video out, he basically shared all his findings for free, meaning anyone can build on his expertise and develop a localised solution.
I sent him this question:

"Thanks for the update, Tim, and indeed for all the time invested in finding a solution. Previously, you had mentioned that the overheating was due to poor thermal management and linked to a thermal paste that, when it bleeds, stops the heat sink from doing its job leading to the damage described in your video. Is that still your view on the root-cause of the melting oculator? Other than the color of the plastic, has Valeo done anything to mitigate the overheating? Could existing owners mitigate it somehow?"

I had my left side headlamp replaced in 2023. My car is a US model, and the headlight part number on my replacement is T2R75690. Hoping it’s one of the “fixed” units so I don’t have to deal with it again in the future.

I may be one of the few that had to replace the right side (turn signal went bad, had no DLR). Replaced a few months ago.

Perhaps someone should tell him that most Americans didn't vote for Trump.

Correction. It wasn't a forum it was a Ftype Owner Facebook page.

Regardless I'm over it... he doesn't like trump and wants to be ridiculous and blame all Americans that's his choice. I don't want a repaired headlamp I want new ones with the Valeo fix - just need to know what indications are on that part number sticker that indicates an updated headlamp not prone to failure compared to one that was original and will fail.

loth

Seems a bit disingenuous to split hairs on total eligible voters who voted vs population of the USA? Didn't he win the popular vote, 77mil out of 155mil who voted?

Or feel free to correct me.

If you watch REAL news you'll be able to see the low IQ clowns who are clamoring for socialism Marxism for the United States. These clowns are literally chanting burn it all down and start something new. The left has always flirted with communism since the 1950s. The left are experts at projection. They accuse you of what they are guilty of doing. Where they learn this, rules for radicals book by Saul Alinsky

Either way it's pretty sad seeing the US going down the drain. Fingers crossed that things will improve there again over time.

Anyways, back on track - so it seems like the revised lights are distinguished by the PUXA code. And what's pretty interesting looking at the pics earlier in this thread they've been produced for more than two years now.

Is there a way to tell if I have headlights soon to go bad, maybe by VIN or the date on the Valeo sticker?
My car's build date is 1/7/2020.
Also, could someone clarify the "facelift" changes and about when they occurred?
Thanks,
-Rick (a few months of factory warranty remaining)

Default facelift

It appears you have a pre-facelift model.
