Engine shuts off on its own?
Hey Folks, I've had my F-Type for about 3 months now, only have put 600 miles on it due to weather. I haven't had any issues so far but there were two instances where I reversed the F-Type into my garage and shifted to Park, before I can even press the Engine Start/Stop button, the car just shut itself off for me. It's really odd and it has happened twice. When it happened, I started the car again and everything seemed fine.
What can cause this issue? Should I be concerned?
Thanks
Tim

Thanks for the reply, but eco stop/start just shuts off the engine. In my case, the whole car shut off as if I pressed the engine start stop button after I shifted to Park.
ECO will do this if you take off your seatbelt before turning off the ignition, while ECO is on. If I'm in the middle of putting the roof up, the roof stops, and I have to start the engine (not just turn on the ignition) to finish putting the roof up. In this case, ECO seems to do a harder shutdown than just turning off the ignition.

Thank you very much!

If you are in eco, like mentioned before, and unbuckle your engine will turn off in park. I actually quite like that.

Agreed that is a nice feature. i rented a 7 series when I was in Austin several years ago that was my first start/stop car and on more than one occasion would forget to turn the car 'off' after I put it in park because the engine had already turned itself off. Could not for the life of me figure out why it would not lock. Also weirded me out the first time my ftype shutoff on me. Mine is a manual and I thought I had somehow stalled the car sitting still. Now it's routine to shut that off first thing on startup.
Actually, its happened to me as well, the first few times had me scratching my head because I was sure I didn't stall the damn thing. I did end up confirming that it was because I had forgotten to turn off the stupid start/stop feature.
Mine certainly turns off/on, but opening the door has no impact on it.
I remember seeing a gag video, where someone put a remote starter on a MT car, leaves it in gear and then tried to start. It was entertaining, as the car got away and even shifted into second gear as it was accelerating away... that remote starter was just that good.
That's really odd! It just did it for me a few minutes ago. I left work, did not disable start/stop as I was going to the gas station that's about 1 minute down the street, pulled into the gas station, car was on, opened door to get out, realized my windows were down but before I knew it, the car had shut off. I had to press the ignition button to get it into accessory mode to close my windows. My 6MT definitely does it, I wonder if maybe that feature was left out of your tune?
Yeah...I don’t think so. Good one. lol
