Default Exhaust tip size (inlet, outlet, size)

Hi,

This is my first post here since I’m soon a new owner of an 2014 f type s.

Im thinking about going all “murdered out” and really want to replace the chrome exhaust tips with a black look.

I searched this forum and figured out the outlet size is 110mm (or 4.25” or 4” & 1/3”)

But what are the inlet size? And how long can they be?

I’m thinking of something like this:

https://www.carid.com/different-tren...=ENGINE%7C3.0L

Thanks

I’d love to change the tips on my R as well. I prefer the single walled black tips if I can find the ones that would fit my car.

you’ll need to grind down a spot weld to remove each of the OEM tips. I’ll take a caliper gauge to my OEM muffler up in the attic a little later today, unless someone gets the measurement sooner.

Wow that's nice of you! Thank you! I'm gonna take the car to an exhaust shop nearby and let them do the job

Would you mind taking a phone of the OEM muffler while you're at it? So I get a sense of how long it should be!

Or if you are really just after the color change, you could take your exhaust off and have the tips ceramic coated black. Should only cost $150. Below is not a good picture, but you get the idea...

Bad news. The OEM tips are attached with a full circumferential weld and there is no straight section of the muffler exhaust pipe ("2.125 outside diameter) to attach a slip-on tip. Any new tip would have to be welded on as well. Chawumba has the best thought. It would be easiest for you to remove the muffler (quite easy) and to have someone black ceramic coat it.

Could be. The tips are totally different. I thought it was a spot weld as well.
