Default 2.25" inlet Size for 5.0 XKR Exhaust Tips?

I'm going to be buying some Magnaflow 3.5" tips for my car, and I just wanted to make sure that I'm correct in thinking that the pipe that comes out of the stock muffler is 2.25", before it flares out to 3" for the stock chrome tips. Just want to make sure that I order the right inlet size for the Magnaflow tips. Thanks.

Nope, but close. They are metric. 60mm I seem to recall.

aaahhhh, tnx. so, i'd be better ordering the 2.50" inlet ones and just have the shop fit a step-up?

The 2-1/2 would probably slip fairly well over the 80mm, so that's the way I would do it.

Best thing you can do is actually measure the pipes, because there is a lot of false information out there about the pipe sizes.

The pipes on the central section and the inlet to the rear muffler are 2-1/4", the pipes coming out of the muffler on the 5.0L are bigger, but how much bigger is a good question, the XKR-S rear muffler has bigger pipes than the XKR, I know that much...

So yours is 2-17/100"? You're missing .08" somewhere if you have 2-1/4". I think you have 55mm. It sure is pretty though. Mine's all gold colored.
The guy who did my X-pipe cheaped out and used 2-1/2" and it's just slightly larger than the 60mm that is on the car. 2-1/4 was smaller. Plus, he used (ugh) aluminized steel. Now I'm waiting for summer and warmth so's I can get some Stainless 60 and replace all what he did.

That measurement was taken on the factory 5.0L XKR-S center pipe I have here, it's all 55mm OD, as is the 4.2L XKR and the 5.0L XK, until you get to the pipes coming out of the rear muffler to the tips, these are larger, and larger again on the XKR-S.

I had to resort to a C clamp so the results aren't quite as accurate as Cambo's but on my '10 XKR the pipe seems to be approx 55mm pretty much all the way to the tip of the outside exhaust but the inside ones come out of the back box at 65mm.

As you can see in the photo, the pipe does seem to flare just inside the outer tip so that may be 65m as well. You would be best to measure yourself though

Hope you didn't order the 2.5" ones. The 2.25" ones are designed to slip over the 2.25" pipe so you'll have enough wiggle room to get a decent fit.

Also hoping you buy the straight tipped ones so you can install them with the logo facing the road. I have a pair of Pypes slant tip like those that I'll probably never use thanks to the logo.
