Can someone tell me the measurement of the cross bar part that i have arrowed in the picture, want to fit a small plate, the second pic is the kind of effect i'm after, i purchasing a car but want the plate ready to go, forgot to measure it at the dealers

 

The flat part before it starts to curve, pretty much per the stick-on plate in your second pic, measures 2.75" or 7 cm.

 

Thanks, don't want a big plate like below, as the plate will probably be flat , what size would just a nice size just to cover the top and bottom of the cross bar a bit as yellow box.

Yep, I would like a Sto'N'Sho as well, but absolutely no go in Nanny State South Australia.
Here, by law, the bottom edge of the front numberplate must be at least 300 mm (about 1 foot) off the ground, and the Sto'N'Sho is waaaay lower than that.

 

I have black background slimline plates in black holders, you pretty much cant even see them except for the writing. The plates are 10cm high, so they come up about 5mm over the top of the bar and 25mm below.

 

My state requires front plates - am going to try and run without them as long as I can. May have to try that Sto - N - Show.

 

I'll go take some measurements for you in a bit if this is what you want to do?

 

State law in WA requires a front plate. I chose not to display one. I've been pulled over twice in last 2 1/2 years. One ticket for 10 mph over and one let off. The missing plate was never mentioned.

 

My car came from california and spent 2 years and 15,000 miles there with no front plate on it. I do not know how many fines were paid by the previous owner if any.

Yes thanks that's exacting it, might go for a vinyl stick on or like your picture, measurements would be great, might fit lower down either

 

Use an aluminum sheet and bend it at a 90 degree angle. You can then attach this under the front spoiler with tape and a screw.
The aluminum sheet you can perfectly cut to your length of the plate and paint.

 

Ok Bruce, i'm putting on no number plate surround, just fitting the smaller rectangular plate with double sided tape to the cross bar, So as i said i just want it 5mm above and below the bar, so what size would that be. You say yours are 10cm and 25mm, the cross bar must be small

 

The face of the crossbar is very close to 3 inches tall.

 

Yes the front face is just on 70mm but it then slopes upward toward the grille and gains what looks to be another 15mm or so. So even if the plate sits proud of the crossbar at the front, it isnt covering the grille.
