I had a 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder before my Jag. Bought it with 2300 miles on it for 59K Sold it last year with 27K for 57.5K in 3 hours on E-Bay. What I have been doing over the years is to finance the depreciation I expect. My MY 17 I paid 78K I took a loan for 20K @ $350 a month. I figure it will go fairly flat at 60K for a bit. My car is MINT and will stay that way. Then I sell. So to me I basically lease it for $350 per month. I have been doing this for years and it has worked really well for me. And if needed you sell and have a lot of equity.

I’m guessing my palate can’t discern the difference between a $75 bottle of wine and $2000 bottle. I’d rather spend the money on some SVR suspension parts. Hoping to lighten the load some more.

 

That's only 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, so is a bit of a bait and switch. It might be the best in the world, but it's not a cabernet.

No worries though. I'll graciously drink it without complaint when you put it in my glass.

As a side note, the last time I had Caymus it was at the local dealership's reception for the F-Type inaugural release. They had yummy stuff.

Yes, it is 87% Shiraz, and straight Shiraz just happens to be my favourite tipple, especially those from the Coonawarra region of South Oz.

To the OP, I also think it's extremely unlikely, but you never know. Look at Supra prices now. But only if you put it in the garage brand new and don't drive it.

On the other hand, if certain members of Congress get their way, an F-type could be illegal in 20 years. So it might be worth a lot on the black market, but would be illegal to own or drive, and you might get arrested.

Who says its not a good investment ? I had it build it to our specs, got some discount for not trading in anyhting and paid € 82.000,- in april 2018.
Since then WLTP kicked in and also did taxation due to new CO2 values. New price now € 96.000,- .... [ 4 -cylinder ].

I can not see anyting 4-sale with my milage and options less then € 88.000,- with plates and tax paid..

Well this one is fortuitous...

I too had the 'Thought' (I don't have many, so it was a watershed moment) that I would keep my lovely little V6 MY 2014 Base toy 'Forever and Ever' and take it with me to my bolthole on the Costa Blanca and we would sail into the sunset together and be blissfully happy. It would be 'Cost Neutral' (would retain enough value to pay the somewhat expensive maintenance) and it would reach a plateau with a certain amount of value, which wouldn't depreciate too much more...

However, it has nearly 91K KM's on it now as I use it for a daily, (although it is in fantastic nick, wants for nothing, it breaks, it gets fixed, regardless) my plans are probably not to ship it to sunny old Spain until we leave here (Dubai), which means at current usage rates it will more than likely be 191K Km's by then as I am averaging about 20-25K a year....

Looking at those figures, I have come to a conclusion that means I have two choices if I want it to get there in any worthwhile capacity.

I am either going to have to buy a beater (maybe a 2014-16 Camaro or Mustang, or something of its ilk) and put the lady away for weekend use only (I do 100KM a day to work and back) or, sell mine now while it is worth doing and invest in a newer/lower mileage car (I have found a lovely 2015 V8s with 17K KM's on it that I like for decent money)..

So what would you do?
