Arrow F Type Owners Is It Me Or Is Porsche , Ferrari, Lambo, Vettes, Benz GT, Overated ?

Ever since I got my F-Type last year I started to notice a lot of other brand marques owners such as Porsches, Ferrari, Lambos, Vettes, Benz Gt became envious once you pull up in a Jag F Type. When I first got this F Type I went on a long road trip 1000+ miles and I stopped in an upscale area filled Porsche 911s, 718s, Lambos, Ferraris, Vettes and Benz GT and I noticed there facial expressions soon as the Jag pulls up its like you smacked the excitement from their faces and they just stop and stare at the Jag. It amazes me that now you can get an exotic F Type v6s on the used markets from 20-30k with low miles. Yet these people I seen driving them high priced exotics I know for a fact spend upwards of 90k-400k on used and new markets just to look cool until the Jag F-Type pops up on the scene and be the showstopper. It makes me wonder if spending 90-400k on these Porsches, Ferrari, Lambos, Vettes, Benz Gt, Etc are really worth it especially if all the excitement you have owning one of these exotics get taken away when a Jag pulls up. I am beginning to think Porsches, Ferrari, Lambos, Vettes, Benz Gt are overrated for what you actually get for the price you actually spending even on used market. I have gotten so much attention in the F-Type more than these other brands. Everyone stops and stares. Glad I made the right choice getting an F-Type which is my favorite Jag even though I like the XKR and all the other Jags but the F-Type is an event each and everytime.

Respectfully, the only thing I’m taking from your post is that YOU really, really, really like your F-Type. I too greatly enjoy MY choice, an F-Type R. But never have I ever come to the conclusion that my choice makes the choices of others irrelevant…Lol

Guy, not everybody loves your car as much as you do, even though you seem to think everyone does. Sorry, but that is the truth of the matter.

There are car choices in all price brackets for all kinds of different interests. I love F-Types, but there are all kinds of cars one might consider if they had more or less money in their pocket. Most car enthusiasts would say this I’m sure.

I’m a car guy. I love cars.

I’d say enjoy your F-type but I don’t think that is necessary ;-0

Cheers

F-Type good bang for the buck? Absolutely (our cars depreciate horribly). Fun? Sure. Are those cars overrated? Not in my opinion. Drive a 911 or Cayman. Sharper and more capable than any F-Type. More fun? Arguable, depends on what you're looking for. Then drive something like a 458 or Hurracan, then call them overrated It is a real experience, and there is a reason folks pay the money they do. We all have F-Types because they are big fun, beautiful, and budget friendly. For me, if asked to trade for even an F360 manual, a slower and much older car, yes in a nanosecond. YMMV.

Everyone has their opinion when it comes to cars I am just saying from my perspective from driving other marques the Jag does it for me all the time. I have driven some high priced exotics but when I got back into the Jag I said I would never pay these astronomical amounts when I can have fun and showstopping ability in the Jag. Theres tons of Vettes, Porsches, Ferrari, Lambos in my area so driving a Jag F-Type is more unique because you dont see them as much as the other marques. Before the F-Type I only had grand tourer Jags the XKR but when I got the F-Type it changed my whole perspective on driving a sports car. It became evident when I showed up in an area filled with tons of exotics in the F-Type you stuck out you got the attention and the heads turning. When I see a Ferrari, Porsche, Vette, Lambo, Benz GT, I never say I need to have one. This is just my opinion.

No surprise, given we have Ian in common.

To the OP, I'd agree that the F-Type is a thing of beauty with solid performance. I get compliments at least 50% of the times I go out to run errands (3 this morning). And, I have run down a Ferrari and a Lambo on the Tail of the Dragon. But, I don't equate that with saying all the others are over-priced. Put me in a road race, and I'd take the 911 - or better yet, one of my son's GT3's or Sport Classic. But, for the combination of beauty and driving pleasure, the F-Type is the cat's meow.

Those non-Jaguar brands you mentioned are overrated because MOST of them are exclusive; that is, they don’t have to explain to their girlfriend that 4 cylinder turbo F-type that the 16 year old neighbor drives to high school everyday is not NOT the same as $150,000 F-Type SVR that YOU own. Corvettes and 911’s have similar problems but NOT the Italians.

Luckily, F-Types for some reason are equally as rare as Italian supercars, except when you look at low priced used car listings. Personally, I think cheap F-types are poorly maintained and usually end up in the junkyard for parts which is why the car is rare.☮️

I have an SVR and a Panamera 4S. The Porsche is as advertised. Not over rated. Unfortunately Pany depreciates quickly unlike the 911. I appreciate the SVR for the killer beauty and power. It drives better than most but not like a Porsche where the fit and finish and engineering are superior. You can feel and experience the difference instantly. F type turns heads. Porsche gets the "nice car". I have both for their respective reasons. One significant factor on the SVR is not thousands of them. 42 left of the 2018 SVR so it's special. Many times there isn't one car that can check all boxes. I really would like at least 6 if it was feasible but two will suffice.

I have owned a couple 911's before buying my F Type R. I LOVE my R and cannot believe what a value these cars are for the performance and yet I also LOVE that few people own them-at least in my area. I live in N. Phoenix and work in Scottsdale where you see EVERYTHING daily but rarely an F Type. And to think they dropped so much in value since I bought mine used with 11k on the clock is insane. With that being said, I just picked up another Porsche because it is an AMAZING car as well and just different. I bought an older Cayman S since I didn't want to spend 911 money and that car is the most fun car I think I have ever driven. So there is truth that an F Type isn't as common as the others you mentioned but they have their value. I cannot do a C8 as they are as common as seeing a Camry/Tesla in my area.

Having owned/own some of the cars you've mentioned in your first post, I can vouch the feeling when you pull up in your F-Type is not exactly envy. F-Types are nice cars, along with lots of other cars, and as others have already accurately stated - glad to see you like yours. But I like my cars too.

e.g.:

Got my 2023 R 2 months ago. Only had 3000 mi on it, listed for $126K and got it for $80K. My wife drives a Corvette C7 convertible. She gets more comments and thumbs up than me on the road so I feel slighted the F-type is being ignored !!

I would switch cars with your wife and then see who gets the most thumbs up.
