Thumbs up F-Type R AWD VelocityAP Stage 2

Hey guys,
I'd just like to share the results from me installing a VelocityAP overdrive crank pulley and Chris over at VelocityAP hooking me up with a BEAST of a tune as you can see in the following video from today on the Dyno!
I can't say enough about the quality, support and overall customer service I've received from VelocityAP! @Chris and Stuart! Just awesome guys who stand behind their products 100%
The shop I went to today, Uptown Autosport, was not a new discovery for me as I've been there in the past not as a customer but with friends. They have an excellent reputation and just went above and beyond today with hospitality. Very professional guys who build all types of crazy cars. Ex. 1300 hp R33 GTR on the lift with multiple other GTRs and cars. I was just having fun and enjoying myself and this F-Type that has been completely transformed by Velocity! BEAST MODE

Here you go:

Make sure you understand that you are in extreme^2 use case due to tunes and adjust your maintenance accordingly. You no longer can follow factory oil change interval and expect good outcomes.

+1. 3.5-5k oil change intervals should be followed.

Smallest fans in the world, they certainly wont help much with cooling

You might be right!
I put my F-Type on the dyno the day after putting the stage 2 (ie with larger crank pulley) VAP tune on and the result was massively disappointing.
The poor old thing coughed and spluttered at the top end and ran horribly rich AFRs and it was patently obvious that it was running way too hot and the fail safe "rich" tune had been invoked by the ECU. I tried to explain this to them but they wouldn't listen.
I put it down to dawdling through 60 km of suburban traffic to get to the dyno, I should have let it sit for a while and cool down before putting it on the dyno but they had other customers waiting for me.
To make matters worse they used one medium sized fan at the front and they didn't even crack the hood/bonnet let alone open it!
I asked "why not" and they said "not needed with the fan".
To be fair to them it was a brand new dyno and installation and they were still learning how to use it properly.
They were a high end performance shop catering mainly to over-boosted Nissan GTRs and the like.

I agree!
I will certainly change the oil often as its easy (mityvac) and cheap. Should I move up a grade to 5W30 as the car is only driven in warm weather?
The very large fan in the back of the dyno room was extracting so much heat from the dyno bay (garage) it was no warmer than 70F in there. The two small fans in the front were enough to supply air to the intakes and rads.
Proof is 4 pulls on the dyno with a 5 minute pause in between pulls 2 and 3 made for repeatable power. Within 5hp!
Thanks for the input so far!

Not wishing to hijack this thread and turn it into yet another oil thread - we already have countless of those - but I wouldn't go too far from the recommended spec of 0W-20. I use 5W-20 coz I live in a hot climate and it's much cheaper and easier to find than 0W-20, but I wouldn't risk 5W-30 (despite what one banned poster kept spruiking!).

I agree with Oz. I'm just happy to not have to read "Ford Super Saver oil" or "ZO6" in every single post.

Be wary of the Mustang dyno results. Perfectly fine for comparative results on the same machine, but since it’s an inertial dyno rather than load bearing, the absolute numbers are suspect and usually show on the high side.

I asked the question if this model of Dyno was load bearing and the dyno technicien said "yes, it is as if you were driving the car..."
So I can always call to confirm...

Better yet, ask him for the model number on the dyno.

*Update*
Due to the dyno runs, hard driving and racing, my OEM cats are on thier way out... SO... I ordered a set of 200 cell cat downpipes from VelocityAP! It's not like it wasn't initially suggested by Velocity, but I do appreciate the stock sound. Jaguar did a great job with tuning the exhaust note. Unfortunately they didn't design the OEM system to handle all that extra boost! Just like almost any car you add more boost to, you often have to drop cats all together. Today, I'm looking forward to these downpipes as they are pretty much required and I'm looking for a little more noise! My startups, idle and highway pulls were pretty insane when I had my 2013 Camaro SS (heads, cam and whipple, full kooks straight pipe exhaust) so this cat doesn't scare me lol I will bring a lot more F-Type content soon! Downpipe unboxing, installation and plenty of sound clips! Down pipes should arrive June 29th!

Take care guys and have a great week-end!

IF you are attempting to install the 200 cell cat downpipes in your driveway on jackstands on an AWD F-Type R.... Don't... it's not something you want to get into. The bolts that are on top on the flanges, passenger side especially... very tight access and you need to have the car up on a lift to use a large breaker bar with a key or crow-foot socket to crack that loose. Probably heat the **** out of the bolts first if the torch reaches. Anyway, car is off to a trustworthy garage today, will have the car back tomorrow afternoon.
Can't wait to share the new driving experience with you guys!!!

Any noticable difference in power or sound?

sound is turned WAY up! I love it! As for power i think the biggest advantage is keeping the car from losing power. Those OEM cats were getting way too heat soaked!

Just an update for those of you who are curious. Car runs perfectly and it runs strong. I’m running roughly 95-96 octane with the stage 2 setup just to be safe. These cars do tend to get heat soaked with the tune and pulley if not at highway speed. They do cool off and recover quickly on the highway though. I’ve been very busy but may go to the quarter mile track Saturday to see what this car can do! I hope you have all enjoyed your F-Types so far this year 👍🤘
