Default F type R owners: Foam in engine department??

Hey everyone,

I am new to this forum and I got my 16 R last July. It now has 2500 miles on it and it has been totally reliable so far except some interior rattle.

This morning I opened the hood of my car and I noticed two vertical foam strips near each side of the hood latch inside the (fan housing?) (see picture below for location). I will take some actual picture of them later since I am at work right now.

Maybe it's meant to be there....but it's really bothering me right now because I think it is a fire hazard since it's touching some metallic line (for coolant?).

Could you please check if you also have those in your car? Id really appreciated...

Charlie

Here is the picture of the foam piece. Can anyone confirm they also have them?

And here is a picture of my car when I took delivery.

Yes, my base V6 is exactly like yours, which means all F-Types have those foam strips. I don't think it's close to anything hot enough to be a hazard. I've been around this forum for awhile now, and you're the first to raise this as a concern.

That type of foam isn't a fire hazard, it is partially there to protect things from heat.
