Post F Type rear quarter panel replacement

Hi all,

New to the forums and wanted to say hi! I also have a question.

I'm looking at a 2017 F-Type in an auction with some rear passenger-side damage. It looks like someone's swiped it and the passenger door and rear quarter will 100% need replacing. The door I'm happy with, simply swap out, the rear qtr I'm not sure. Does anyone know if a replacement panel bolts onto the frame or if the panel needs to be drilled out and then spot-welded back in place?

Regards and thanks in advance,

Col

Convertible or Coupe?

Lightweight aluminum panels are bonded together with a super-strong adhesive, then punched with zinc-coated, boron steel rivets that compress the adhesive to form an airtight bond for phenomenal strength and rigidity.

I am pretty sure there is no quarter panels, as the entire side is formed in one pressing. But I am sure someone else will confirm this or have more information.

Zach - Thank you. It's a coupe. So basically something has gouged out most of that rear qtr, the door and then a section of the front wing. I'm trying to understand if its a professional replacement or not.You can freely buy the part from most places which made me think the swap out is simple, seems not to be the case!

Regards,

Col

At around the 1:40 point they show the rivets and adhesive being applied and the panel being attached.

I recall someone posting a picture many years back of a new rear quarter panel. It was one piece that went all the way around the door.

I had a rear 1/4 replaced after I scrape it out of shape, so I know it is a part

That music is quite dramatic for what is going on in the video, haha.

Find a body shop that is up to date certified for Jaguar aluminum cars - you don't want to be their first F-type.....so find out who dose the dealer's work. .

Good luck.

I did my rear quarter on a convertible myself. It is not hard to do.
the coupe is at a different level, it is much bigger.

Your entire quarter panel needs to be replaced:
