Door Panel burnt looking
My XKR has the Cashmere interior and the dash colored portion of the door panel at the top has a dark brown discoloration that I have been unable to remove or not get worse.
It is the top part in this picture and the spot is a 1.5 foot long by 1/2" wide right at the edge of the door panel meeting the window seal:
PIC REMOVED, SEE POST 6
Anyone else have this happen? The rest of the door panel is like new, so I want to try and dye it or do something. What color would I order the dye for, other than getting some custom made locally?
Any ideas?

I have the same color interior and the dash is faded considerably compared to the door tops and even on those you can see a gradient of color top to bottom, if you look closely.
I am interested in what you decide to do and how it turns out.

The two tone door panel.
The light color being cashmere and the darker color is sable,(a little like olive green).
I'm sorry I cannot see anything from this picture other than a perfect door panel.
I have a dark rubbed spot on the top sable piece of vinyl, that I eventually need to do something about. not sure it can just be recovered though!
I have recovered the arm rest and oval insert surround with sable leather both sides, easy to do.
The top part is more difficult not sure what to do. I would be interested as well if you take apart and find it can be recovered or if it just has to be replaced.
Good luck, keep us informed.

Sorry, I grabbed a photo to describe location, but didn't accurately indicate that it was not of my car. Here is a photo of the exact car and spot:

That's looking like many years of someone's arm our the window.
I have found that the "magic eraser" works wonders on marks like that. Get it good and wet, have a towel handy to sop up the drippings and rub away.
Takes off all sorts of black marks and smudges and dirt.
Shouldn't have any issue with the plastic parts but be careful of the leather. You can do it if you are careful but if you get carried away you can take the paint off.

Hello, I have a small thin spot on my door small area. I would be very careful about rubbing more, but yours is quite bad, so I do not know if you can do more damage.
Mine is just a small spot and I just tried with magic sponge and it actually made worse!
I think the piece has coloring added to it and it has just worn off over the years of sun and human sweat, which is actually quite caustic (salts).
Your piece I think just needs to be replaced, mine I think, I will look for some polish in sable. I hope I am wrong and your stain all rubs right off, but if it does not come off quickly, I would not continue.
Your choice, good luck let us know what happens.
If it does clean up some, you may consider a dye kit to enhance the color of sable!

Thanks for the help. This is just a little odd in that I've never encountered it in all of the crap I've cleaned.

Are you sure that that is not the color of the actual material underneath the surface/Sable colored section? Without seeing it in person, no one can give a very good idea of what it might be, but, if it is the natural color of the material underneath the sable coloring on the surface, that would explain why it cannot be "removed".
Depending upon what a stickler you are, you may have to do your best to paint or re-color it as best you can or buy a replacement piece.
I'd probably try some professional help to do the first, and if that was not satisfactory, then I'd have to replace it. Good luck whichever way you go.
