Being a relatively new owner of a 2017 F-Type SVR Convertible I have been doing a lot of reading, research and looking at "accessories" online. I came across the module to make the Convertible Top remote controlled through the key fob from cabriosupply. I'm not use if this is something useful or just a gimmick! Has anyone on the forum installed this? What are your thoughts?

 

I had a remote module from SMARTop for my Mercedes SL550. It worked great. The ability to raise/lower the top while outside the car was surprisingly useful (and cool). FYI.

 

A number of us have the SmartTop module, it works fine.

 

I also have had the Smart Top module in use for two years. It has many capabilities and different ones appeal to different people. I have never needed or used the ability to operate the top remotely. However, there are two of it's characteristics which make it very worthwhile for me. The first is the change in the direction of operation of the top up/down switch. This was the only aspect of the car which annoyed me after I purchased it. The other change which pleases me is that the operation of the top switch can be (and is) now momentary with the cycle being completed automatically. The module is not inexpensive but I am delighted with it and consider it well worth the cost.

 

+1 for SmartTop. Had one in my last BMW (hardtop) convertible and now in the F-Type. Best aftermarket mod for the money, super easy to install, and can be made completely 'invisible' (electronically) for dealer visits. It's the way the car should (or would) come from the factory if lawyers did not exist.
