F Type SVR issues
So, my mum ordered an SVR back in November. It was delivered to us Feb 22nd. My parents noticed an oil leak on their driveway so we took the car back. They had the car for 2 weeks. They replaced the crankshaft seal and some component related to the oil cooler, but I haven't got a copy of the print out from when the car was returned to us. The leak seems to have gone, but a new issue arose with regards to the brakes. Under light to medium pressure (the sort of pressure applied when approaching a red light, but not with urgency) my mum noticed the car pulled/drove to the left. Under harder braking the car straightened back out. I drove the car to see what she was talking about and sure enough it was doing just as she stated. She took the car back to the dealership Monday. I went for a drive with the tech (both he and I drove) to show and feel the issue. They have sent the information to Jaguar and have a TA open with them. They have tried cleaning the pads and rotors in case the oil that had been leaking was onto the pads/rotors. I'm assuming that their next step will be replace the rotors and pads, but so far the dealership haven't received instructions from Jaguar. By the way, the car is fitted with the carbon ceramic brakes. I doubt the issue is with the calipers, but who knows...
Sweet ride. I think the tech's are on the right path. It's entirely likely that a bit of oil got into the brakes. It wouldn't take much for the symptoms you're seeing. Cleaning should be sufficient, but I'd applaud the dealer if they're willing to replace pads and/or rotors. It's certainly a PITA, but should get resolved easily enough.
Once the TA is open, it will be with engineers. Unfortunately at this point, the Tech has to wait till they respond, sometimes it can be a few days depending on how many TA's or EPQR's have been filed and need attention.
I find it odd though that they didn't drive it after the repair, or maybe they did and didn't notice anything???
I'm just curious myself, the GCM website if its dealer specific or any vehicle can be looked up??

My SVR has a leak from new, I think it turned out to be a drive shaft seal, but they fixed it and everything has been fine since, does sound like they got oil on the brakes during fixing, not a cheap fix with the carbon ceramics but i'm sure they will get it replaced. Not a great start to new car ownership but its worth it once you get it sorted
could be a bubble in the brake line causing one side of the brakes to grab harder than the other... I kind of doubt it is since that would be weird from the manufacturer, but you never know! If it is, then it is an easy fix, but I guess wait and see!
So, the latest update as of yesterday is that the master cylinder is faulty. The dealership is waiting for Jaguar to authorize the repair, which should be Monday. Jaguar made the same assumption that oil got on the pads and rotors. They requested they clean them, which they did, but it did not work. After some more playing, they figured out that the master cylinder is likely the cause. We shall see.

I was very disappointed to see that Jaguar was in the BOTTOM 10 cars in reliability in a recent study by Consumer Reports, I believe, below even the Mini Cooper! For this to happen with an SVR is rather more discouraging, especially one that was a special order. When I had so many problems with my S-Type, I attributed them to Jaguar being owned by FORD. Now??
After owning my F-Type for a year, It has given me nothing but excellent service and drivability, but then in that time, I have only 3600 miles on it. Not because I don't want to drive it, I just don't trust the local drivers.

Hmmm. My wifes 09 Mini has had zero issues and my 02 only the expected wear and tear items for 140k miles (most of those on a substantial tune). If minis are considered bad, I wouldnt worry too much about the Jag (except for the MT clutch and the sound system).
My mum had a V8S before the SVR. The only issue we had was that was the keyless entry module failed (just outside of the 4 year coverage), which cost us $1000. I have an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. I have 2600 miles on it and not a single issue so far - apparently the Italians now build a reliable car. I also have a 2006 Z4 M Coupe and the engine failed at 56000 miles (rod bearings failed on cylinder 3 & 6 and bent the 3 rod), so had to get a new short block - love that German reliability.
Another update: Jaguar sent a tech to the dealership this morning. It appears that a piston in the caliper was sticking. They have rebuilt the caliper and all is well now. They should be returning the car to us today. All seems to be well....fingers crossed!

Since I bought my car(new) in March of 16 I have received two surveys from JLR asking about the good, the bad and the ugly experiences and issues. I just filled out the 2nd. If you are receiving these, would encourage taking the time to fill out as their is ample opportunity to convey specific issues and also give commentary. Hopefully they take stock in the feedback and continue to improve the product and service.

We got the car back and all seems well now. I went through the print out reports and did a quick tally of the costs the dealership has billed Jaguar. The bills for the repairs (oil cooled, crankshaft seal and caliper rebuild) roughly come to $3900, and that doesn't include the cost of the tech they flew down to fix the brakes. Plus they are giving us a $500 certificate as compensation for the aggravation and time without the car.
Hopefully for them and us this is the end of the issues.
