Default issues issues issues smh

hi all.

2009 XF

anyone have an issue when coming to a complete stop and car seems the surge forward kind of like if it was a bad motor mount or the engine bounces or something?

I also have a strange howling noise coming from the passenger side floor area specially on cold starts.

and last but not least is there any possible way that my parking assist might not be working because of the sensor behind the brake peddle?

im new to this and did some research on here but found no answers.

thanks

Might be a "lurch" - see previous threads - and can often be fixed e.g. by reprogramming / fluid change.

I seem to be going through the same issue on cold starts in the morning (hear a humming for the first few minutes). Sounds transmission fluid related. I will probably replace the tranny fluid and pan filter. Mine lurches when I place it into park. I generally put on the parking brake before taking my foot off the brake pedal. If I don't put the parking brake on before letting off the brake pedal, the car will jump a few inches.

I dont think the humming is transmission related as when i have the car runing and accelarate it the noice goes with the accelaration

possibly a wheel bearing

if the car is still and you accelerate the engine speed and hear the noise increase then it is likely an accessory or pulley or even the belt that could be causing the sound.

If it is while the vehicle is moving the it could be the above still or wheel bearing or CV joint.

If a manual transmission, the throw out bearing can also make noises.

Next time you come to a stop, use your left foot on the brake, not the right foot, and see if you still get the lurch.

Had the same issue, did a drain and fill, and drove it. No adaptation. After a couple of driving cycles, my issue went away. Transmission is very smooth now.
not sure if you’re experiencing the same thing.

Read the OBDII codes and post the codes.
