Those steel discs look like they were used with pads that couldn't cope with the temperature. When disks overheat, they change colour. Typically blue or yellow, depending on how hot they got.

Also, based on personal experience, if you make the traction control work for a living in low grip winter driving conditions, it's entirely possible to get the discs on a Jaguar hot enough to glow...

You are correct about the pads and pad smear. The MotoCraft rotor had Hawk's HP+ pad which embedded into the disc. That disc warped horribly, though.

The high carbon, Centric blanks come with the bluish hue right from the factory. I would imagine that's the "high carbon" part of it. Either way, I'm overheating the hell out of them, yes. It just goes to show that people can track their F-Types with probably less of a problem than what I'm having with the Focus ST. Why? You guys have scoops! I have no airflow. None.

It actually looks like Ford redesigned the brake for 2014.5 where they now put the brake vents on the outside of the rotor (instead of the side of the dust shield) and changed the vent design. They knew they screwed up.
