Our last XE was a 25T and I agree the transmission is a bit lazy. It is much better driven in dynamic. The transmission is monumentally improved in the new ones or at least the p300 version which is the only one I've driven. Unfortunately however the steering wheel from the iPace isnt as nice on the hands and while the metal paddles look great, the action is nowhere near as good as the plastic ones from the previous or the F Type.

I know I am taking the risk of 'excommunication' here.. .. I own a humple P300 coupe and a more humble F-Pace 25tawd...

Given the fact you get 'tons of snow' and the fact the underpinnings of the F-Pace are identical with the F-Type...

Go and try out an F-Pace SVR.. V8 575HP...

I had this thought passing my mind ; why owning two 'half cups' instead of one 'full'

Given I do need a towbar, I could not end up with any F-Type..

Trading both in would buy me a new F-Pace SVR...

This is exactly the calculation that makes SUVs so popular.
But that also makes them common. And what makes them practical, a box shape, also makes them boring in the long run.
Truth is that an SUV is the 2 half cups, and the non-specialist, it will never be a sports car, nor any thing beautiful, nor will it be a proper truck.
Because of all this, they have a very short shelf-life, look at a Range Rover from 2010, 510hp. No one wants it, because its not the latest SUV. And nothing is uglier than a has been box, that's when its mask comes off.

The Fpace is really a crossover vehicle and not even an SUV, a transgender as far as vehicles go.
Get the new Defender, it will provide decades of enjoyment and utility.

Yes, you are very much 'on-the-dot' . I find the old model RR also horrifyingly ugly.. .. I only just discovered that I do sit only 6cm higher in the F-Pace then in de BMW.. ...
The Defender I won't fit into I am afraid... ..too tall legs. This is the miracle of the F-Pace and Velar [same body] : in the most rearward position I can not touch the floor
where normally the clutchpedal goes... ..the only car I am aware of where this is possible !

Actually I am really interested in the Rivian. Not only because its 4x4 tall and a SUV , but its the extended version of my old D3 , the D5 as it should have been...
look at my cut & paste below.. .. doors are longer and a longer boot and hood.. ..excellent job !

Maybe I get one of these and sell the F-Pace in two years or so.

I think the only way to know for sure is to listen to music you like at the volume you like on the exact car you are considering to purchase.

Personally, I think F-type has a soul. You don't own it, you have a relationship with it, and like any mistress it occasionally gives you headaches.
That's exactly what I intend to do. Most rattles can be noticed nearly instantly. As for the soul aspect, I could not have put it better myself. These cars feel real, they give you feedback and can truly be called driver's cars. That's worth quite a lot to me.

While I genuinely consider the F-Pace SVR a brilliant car, I crave a coupe, and something more emotional than practical. After all, isn't this exactly what Jaguars are all about?
Besides, there are barely any used SVRs around, and a new one is way out of league in terms of pricing.

The SVR is the top, but the "S" is a V6 with 380hp, very capable car as well. The whole bottompart of the car, all the suspension and arms, are straight from the F-Type. It does steer as sharp
almost as an F-Type, and its not much taller. I suggest you give it a try, it is a really amazing car. Some people have both and they really wonder if they still need the F-Type..

Ofcourse, an F-Pace is no replacement for an F-Type. But for everyday use it feels very close.

I have to say, you have intrigued me. I'm going to test drive an F-Type S then, to compare them.

You mean an F-Pace S ? Or an F-Type S to compare with the F-Type R ?
Both comparisons are worth while I think.

If it is, it is HUGE difference. And the mass is just no comparison. Just my opinion.

Dan do you see the real difference. The SUV sees over the car, car cannot see over SUV.

My bad - I meant an F-Pace S, as you mentioned.
