Default Filling fuel tank

I took my new-to-me F to the gas station for the first time today. The pump started clicking off after about 6 gals. I knew it should take more, 'cause the gauge was near the bottom, but I didn't want to risk having fuel gush out at me.
After driving away, I saw the gauge read about 1/2 tank.
I had the pump handle at about 6 o'clock.
Any special tricks to get the F to take fuel?
Thanx!

Yes. Easy. Do not push the nozzle all the way into the filler pipe. If you withdraw it an inch or so you will have no trouble filling it. Jaguar did alter the filler unit for this issue but try the method just described.

2 suggestions: make sure that you use a "top tier" premium gasoline, and do not let the fuel level fall much below 1/4 tank. The prime cause of fuel pump failure in modern cars with in-tank pumps is repeatedly running the tank to near empty.

There's a TSB for this. I had it performed on my car and there are still stations where it just doesn't work right.

I've had issues at specific gas stations with repetitive pump shut offs no matter what I did. You might try a different station/pump. Agree with top tier gas well.

When I come across the issue, I just turn the nozzle upside-down.

Yes. Easy. Do not push the nozzle all the way into the filler pipe.
Our local Costco just installed new pump nozzles. These REQUIRE the spout to be inserted all the way in, enough so that the plastic shroud/fume-shield activates a switch. The pump will not operate unless the shroud actuates the switch.

You CAN pull the shroud back by hand and the pump will operate. But you need to keep holding it.

No problem filling my 2021 P380.
Full service gas pumps (cheapest gas in region!).
My gripe is that there is nowhere to secure the filler cap, so it just hangs down against the painted surface.

Your car doesn't have the little 'flange' on the filler door hinge that the cap can hang from?????

No, just the latch mechanism that does not hold the cap.

You can loop the "string" that holds the filler cap on that curved portion that sits half way along on the top of the arm. Keeps cap off the paint, although it is not super secure when on there.

No, won't stay put!
Next time, I am going to see if possible to fill with the cap sitting inside the "well".
Not clear if enough room for pump nozzle, but worth a try.Reply

Do like I did. Just take the plastic cord completely off and set the cap on the pump when pumping gas. In my 50 years of driving I have never forgot to put the cap back on. But if you're a forgetful type person, better just leave it on!

It's the little 1/4 circle near the hinge that you use to hold the cap. There is a picture in the manual.

The edge of the gas cap fits inn that curved groove near the fuel door. Just place it there threaded side down and it will sit there.
Oops somebody beat me to it.

Welcome to the world of the motorcyclist in California. They actually make little tools to hold the shroud back so we can fill the tanks on our bikes.

You might regret using cheap gas in the long run....and take note of that flange on the open fuel door hinge - it is designed to hold the cap just as you have been told.

You beat me to the picture. Our '14 has different printing on the door (and on the cap, not shown), so it's worth repeating. (I hope this isn't one of those 'Vert vs. Coupe things, LOL)

Sparky, you are excused!!
But no need to get so excited!!

No troll here.
Neither am I buying cheap gas, just filling at the best priced pumps.
Price for premium here varies by more than 50 cents/gallon.
Also, this place is full service.
So I need to show the pump guy where to place the cap correctly, now that i have been so well schooled!
The photos helped. Thanks, but.I did not expect my original comment to elicit such a response!!
