Question Fitting a Bike in the Boot?

Any cyclist here? I'm thinking about buying a bike. Weather is really nice right now, need to get some exercise in. I could use Zip Car for the occasional weekend getaway but wondering if anybody has be able to fit a bit in the trunk? I imagine I would need to remove the front and rear wheels. But with these quick release systems it seems like it wouldn't be that big of a hassle. If anybody has transported their bikes in the trunk please let me know! Thanks in advance.

Sure these bikes breakdown and fit just barely.

Buy a truck so I can use it once a month to transport a bike? Thanks for the useful comment though

Saw that, pretty sweet setup. But I prefer no racks. Seems blasphemy to put some racks on such a beautiful car.

I'm not sure it would go in even if you disassembled it, maybe not even if you melted it down into a solid block and crushed that block with so much force that it turned into a diamond

LOL...too funny!

I have a small folding bike that I store in my race car trailer and use it in the pit area...if you google folding bikes I bet you find plenty that will fit...even in an F-Type boot!

Shift--I'm sure one of your friends with a pick-up or SUV would gladly trade vehicles for the day so you could go biking.

I wonder if you can actually use the f-type factory ski carrier as a bike rack??! or use the same ski carrier base to fit a bike rack attachment.

Point taken. If you want useful how about taking the 10 minutes it took to put together your post, trot downstairs and TRY and see if your bicycle will fit?

I happened to be doing some tune-ups on our bikes today so I did a little research for you...

A standard wheel size (700C) with full size frame bike, fully broken down, will not fit in the F-Type boot. A smaller scale frame may fit but would have to be fully broken down (handle bar and stem removed, wheels removed.)

My Dahon folding bike fits perfectly and there is even room around the edges for a few other items. Pictures attached.

I have a lot of bikes and I (surprisingly) really like my Dahon for traveling purposes and bring it in the plane frequently as it weighs about 25 lbs. www.dahon.com

Something like this should work.

Seriously though, I wouldn't think of putting a bike in an F-type. Buy a truck, comes in handy for a lot of other stuff too...

I probably wouldn't mount my bike to the F-Type but I did find this very cool SUCTION CUP mount. Easy on/off, but won't ruin the lines of the car when not in use. Apparently another member here uses it to transport his $10K bike on his XK!

Thanks for making may day with one of the most humorous comments on the Jag forum!

I worry about putting a pack of paper towels in the F-Type trunk - in fact my wife cannot come with me if I am grocery shopping or I would have to make two trips, the second one being to pick her back up!

Sadly when I'd drive away with the groceries I'd get so focused on the drive I'd forget all about that second trip. Strangely she didn't think it was funny at all.
