Default Flat steering wheel or not...

I like the looks of the flat steering wheel but I would assume the round one has a better feel to it. I haven't had the chance to try them out so any input would be appreciated.

I drive with my knees a lot... It makes it much easier to have a flat bottom.

My ftype r has the flat bottom steering wheel, I think it comes standard on the car.
I really like it.. as mentioned already, great shape to steer with the leg/knee. Even more important to me though is the flat bit at the bottom is a nice place to rest the hand when cruising and when cornering it gives you a good sense of where the steering is at.
Its the first steering wheel I've had with this shape and I like it a wee bit better than the standard... I suspect however, this is really up to the individuals own driving habits.
Lawrence.

I like the flat bottom on my V8 S. Looks very distinctive and unique.

The R I tested had the flat bottom steering wheel. The Base had the traditional steering wheel.
One reason I prefer the flat bottom steering wheel is because it is "thicker". I like the feel of it in my hands so much better than the traditional one.
That is one of the reasons I prefer it.

I agree with Lawrence.
I drove with both wheels when I test drove the F-Type in V8 and V6 variants. I noticed that the flat bottom feels way better for highway driving/cornering but was a bit weird for tight city turns or backing in the car where you have to rotate the steering wheel a lot. Maybe I just needed to get used to it.

The flat also allows more "headroom"

The Sports steering wheel (flat bottom) is nicely contoured, I enjoy it, but I had to buy the 'Performance Pack' to get it. Not really worth it.

flat all the way, fits the car styling to a T and for most cornering youll ever do driving you wont touch the bottom. Except for knee driving or "headroom"

Flat bottom for sure. I had it on my C63AMG. It's a more race inspired look...definitely fits the F-Type.

Since picking up my car I've been thinking about options which I missed.
I picked the round steering wheel for reasons above, but I think in hindsight I would have ordered the flat.

I agree with others that the cabin looks better with the flat.

So. If you're driving with one (or both) hands off the wheel it's a Good Thing. It also looks good as a result of being different.

Did anyone find it allowed them to set the wheel at a different height?
