Float type battery conditioner
Thanks Foosh. It will be interesting what, if anything more, others have to say on the subject. MY guess is if I did nothing - no battery maintainer. no tire savers, etc. - spring will spring and my car will start right up (of course I could be wrong) without any issues whatsoever.
(I also harbor visions of that perfectly clear winter day - no salt, no sand - and taking her out for a nice long ride).
Best regards to all,

I installed my Battery Tender Jr. using the directions for the Jaguar charger:

The link for this is in the sticky topic with manuals at the top of the forum. Note that this is for the convertible; the configuration under the trunk in the coupe is likely different. But the power distribution panel may be the same or similar.

If you attach the positive to the fuse block as per Jaguars specifications and directions. It will charge both batteries.
The second smaller battery is not for starting the car, it is for supplying power while the engine is stopped during the ECO stop start function.

Oh, yes, that is true. However, having a flat battery in general is not a fatal issue for any car - the ECU will re-learn its dynamic settings in fairly short order. Having said that, *I* personally wouldn't care, others might.
Removing the battery is not the best solution, can actually cause other issues.
If you have an older car without engine computers, it’s safe to disconnect the battery – or remove it entirely – while it’s stored. Brown-Harrison says a disconnected battery will keep its charge longer if you store it in the freezer.
But disconnecting the battery is a bad idea if you have a newer vehicle with computers – if they lose power, you could face performance problems down the road, Faruki says.
“You won’t just lose radio station settings – the computer could lose its settings and that could affect your car’s operation,” he says. “So, with newer vehicles, you should install a smart charger and keep it plugged in all winter.”

Just remember that if you disconnect the battery and close the trunk, you'll need to hook jumper cables to the front jump points in order to open the trunk, which only has an electric release, as far I know. (This is for the convertible.)
I have a battery tender Jr. (low charge rate so won't destroy gel mat batteries). 've used one for years to maintain the charge on my vehicles batteries with no problems. But the battery access on the F type is a pain in the ...
Does anyone know if there are any problems created by connecting to the under hood jump start + terminal and a nearby ground ?
Thanks.

I use the undergood terminals on my 2014 as well. It does work, although the car won't lick with the hood open. If I don't charge it every week or so I will get lots of silly errors. Probably it sat too long with a dead battery before I bought it. Add that to a long list of minor niggles to raise at the 15,000 mile service.
