The V6U (450) is really the pinnacle of the line .

Nice review, gives a good perspective of the differences and nuances between the models. Thanks!

I love them all. Hell I am even warming up to that sewing machine model.

I have an appointment at noon tomorrow to test drive the I-4. No point in weighing in on the entry level model until I actually drive one. Not expecting a V6 or V8 experience, but it could be a fun one nonetheless.

Any luck or update with the manual SVR your dealer said was possible?

I'm almost finished selecting all of the features on the car and it will be a real Franken-monster of 2015-2018 F-type parts and panels looking more like a '15R with a '16 P7 frontend and '18 400 interior. I'm guessing the resulting cost will be quite invigorating.

Yep, invigorating for the dealer but quite deflating for you!
And of course the $64,000 question, will you be getting a manual V8?

I am gullible, and not the smartest car dude, but either this is a joke, or they figured out how to not blow up the clutch with the power of that V8 engine??

Uncertain until the price tag is fully contemplated.

The key design parameters are MT and light weight:
I am specifying 400 seats, RWD, SVR exhaust, CC brakes to that end.

I will also ask for a lowered suspension and full CF wheels, but I'm guessing that won't be in the cards since that would require additional development on their part.

You do realize, of course, this is probably more of a wet dream than reality?

If Chevy can figure it out in the Z06 and ZR1, Jaguar should be able to offer a manual in the SVR. However, I have the paddles and I must say the shifts are fantastic. The only aspect I do not like is that when I drive it in manual mode and floor it, it will automatically lower the gear say from 4th to 2nd and force me to upshift.

I bought my wife a base Convertible two years ago, and she loves it, however, the last couple of months she has been talking about the 400, so yesterday she called our Friend at our local store, She has two in stock, so we went down to drive a Black/Black Coupe’ . It is awesome.

Haven’t driven the 400 but currently own a V6 S and have sat in one—it’s amazing and the small touches like aluminum paddles and an upgraded, more glass-like infotainment screen honestly have made it really nice on the inside. For me the perfect amount of power, and looks amazing too 😊

Sounds like you are pressing the button under the gas pedal that triggers "Kickdown". Press just hard enough to not trigger that button, and it won't shift down automatically...

I can't recall if it takes Dynamic+Sport for it to not shift automatically. (It will override that if you hit the kickdown switch, as Breaker mentioned.)

It will always downshift as you're coming to a stop, to avoid stalling. I like that feature.

I don't think it matters if you are in Dynamic tbh. I know it holds gears as much as physically possible when in Manual mode (and no kickdown).
