Future infotainment...no CarPlay
There are numerous videos appearing on YouTube featuring the new iPace.
The infotainment screen is disappointingly familiar, same old Jag approved apps.
This is the future then.

I've never used any of that stuff. Play me some music or shut up and let me hear the song the car is singing.
Yes, I have a smartphone, but I've never done anything more than pair with bluetooth to get phone calls. I get maybe one a week when driving, at most, so I'm OK with that.

Just joking but seriously, it's not something most of us even care about so I can understand Jaguar not implementing it if the demand isn't there, right?
Now I DO wish this thing had voice-controls for the Navigation as the touch screen method is ... slow

I suspect any JLR effort at voice control for the Nav would be just as bad.

I like modern conveniences for the, well convenience. I love my car because it makes me smile which is where the engineers spent the time and money. In no way saying there isn’t room for improvement but I see the car for what it is and not for what it isn’t.

The point of my post was to express my despair at the latest Jaguar offering, they are still living in the past with their futuristic iPace.
Yeah, it's terrible. Not being able to have a decent navigation app on the screen of the car significantly worsens the experience as a DD.
If the F-Type was even 5% less awesome than it is, I'd have never considered it due to the antiquated infotainment.

I'll use the navigation today, but that will probably mark only the 6th or 7th time I've used it. It's just not an issue for me.
The recent F-Pace I had as a loaner had a better quality screen and backup camera, and it'd be nice if mine were a bit better, but that's outside of infotainment.

The argument about "that's not what a car is for" is just silly. The fact that some segment of ownership doesn't have the desire for certain technology features is no reason to excuse Jag for not keeping up with the competition. That's like saying "it doesn't rain where I live so I don't understand why any manufacturers put roofs on their cars." My XF had more convenience features than the F Type. Voice control, etc. The flagship should have all of that, period. It's just software and a few wires. And the entire line should have infotainment that is on par with other luxury brands, to say nothing of being outpaced by Nissan, GM, etc.
Actually on a Lamborghini, the entire gauge pod is a screen which shows the nav map and other things as needed.
