@DJS THANKS for pointing out the instructional pages of the gigantic Service Manual. I HATE trying to find stuff in there.
Even tho' I tried pulling the floor carpet away, I didn't start with the side trim. That was goof #1.
That has prevented me from pulling the floor carpet down (I swear, it seemed GLUED-IN) and releasing the CJB securing screws (goof #2) At least now Step Seven shows where the screws/bolts are.
Pulling the carpet back (it was quite stiff due to the thick backing, yes the side kick-panel needed to be removed first) then removing that 'floor pan' allowed the connector to be released. (see post 30)
I'll have more pictures after I put everything in the footwell into place. Wife presented me with the Adult Beverage so I stopped after finally removing the aux battery.

Excellent news! Apologies for giving duplicate advice above. I think I went to the thread and came back hours later without refreshing it, so missed some of the discussion. Not the first time I've made that blunder. I'll hoist a Cold One in salute to you later once the sun is over the proverbial yardarm.
OP has a convertible, with zero trunk access. My state doesn’t rent children (as far as I know), but other states might.
Hi, there is an access possibility. There are 2 vents behind the bumper. If you get under your bumper, a little bit of bending, you can remove the right vent. That leaves a hole where you can reach out to the emergency release in the trunk. Don’t ask how I know….

NOW you tell me!
I'll peek underneath later. Taking a rest to celebrate Mother's F***ing Day...
The passenger floor around the CJB was put back into place yesterday. YOW that metal has sharp edges! Had to clean up the blood.
Pleased to report that I didn't drop any bolts, thanks to my magnetic 10mm nut drivers.
Here are some pictures of my 'lesson' in case someone else needs to remove the floorboard to power the trunk release.
The carpet is VERY stiff and difficult to pull back, to access the bottom 10mm bolt. One of two upper 10mm bolts. CJB fully exposed. Floor panel out of the way

I DID find where the vents referenced by @Adam Deermann were located. You need to ID them by feel...this is all you can see from underneath.
Any pictures of the actual point of connection at the CJB and what you used to power it ?
You ask all the DIFFICULT questions.
This picture sorta shows where the black wire is connected to the C3BP01F (upper-left) connector.
The wire was difficult to see, as it is just to the right of a black-with-white-stripe wire.
I put a small 12" long, insulated solid wire, into the backside of the connector, then all it took was a momentary connection to our 12V jump-box to release the boot.
Really appreciate the update and picture. I'm sure this will be helpful to all in the future. I assume you connected the wire to the red lead on the jump box, but did you have to connect the black lead to a ground on the body or just let it hang idle?

How did you remove the carpet? It seems to be rather stiff and unpliable. I found an explanation online that says to first remove the seats. I can't do that without power to move them to access the bolts.
No! Remove the carpet mat, and that will reveal a rectangle in the carpet on the sloped forward part of the footwell. This rectangle is the cover for the fuse box, and pulls out. It was non-obvious to me the first time I looked for it.
