Default Gear Box Failure Message

So, went out to start the car this AM and got this message. I could not get the shifter to engage D or N. Started and stopped the engine a few times. Called the dealer and they suggested calling Jaguar Roadside Assistance, but to be sure they knew they'd have to manually disengage it from Park. The car is parked front end forward in my garage.

I do recall seeing instructions in the manual for this.

About 30 mins later, I restarted and everything was "fine". I still want to get into the shop to see what gives.

Has anyone dealt with this error message yet?

Check your battery, I got the same thing the other day. Mine is in the shop for "low battery" "gearbox failure" and couple other messages.... See this link. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...normal-163671/

Got the same thing a year+ ago. Likewise, after a few minutes, everything was back to normal. I took it into the dealer and they replaced a brake switch/sensor. I don't KNOW if that fixed it, but the problem has never come up again. As Grumpy Finn mentioned, batteries have come up as a possible cause with others, although I've never had a battery warning before or since.
