I had the exact same thought when I saw that. Really? They can do better and not copy the "lost" Jaguar brand.

Why does it have some kind of phonograph cylinder in its bathroom/cockpit?

I think it's another obscure nod to the 300 SL, I seem to recall the 300 SL having a similar looking cylinder in the cockpit maybe behind the dash.
