Default Genuine Rear Gloss Black Leaper and Jaguar Lettering available?

Morning all,

So I was "building" a new F-type on the Jag website just for fun and noticed that the rear Leaper and Jaguar lettering are now in gloss black.

So called my local Jag dealer and they weren't able to find it on the system. Does anyone know the part number?

I've already removed the lettering, but would like it back as it looks too bare, but much rather have gloss black. Is the leaper just stuck on, or is there a pin hole underneath?

Graeme

Black ones became available with the 2021 models. The leaper is affixed with 3M Moulding adhesive and has 2 alignment holes in the panel and 2 pins on the Leaper to set the angle and position. The set will come in a template package that holds everything in the right position while mounting. Likely can find the part numbers by using a 2021 VIN and searching for the badges in black.

Try searching this part number: T2R46258 May be the Black Leaper you are wanting. Avaliable at BritCar for ~$29.00 US

DC

This is how the sets typically come... in a template with proper spacing.

I thought the alignment for the Leaper involved two dimples in the panel rather than two holes.

I replaced the Leaper on my factory deployable wing, and it had 2 holes. I bought, painted and just installed the OEM fixed wing from JLR
and it also came with two holes and a factory badge kit with the two pins on the back of the Leaper. Maybe there are differences in models?

Two alignment holes

Here is what the back of the OEM badge looks like. You can see the two pins on the back of the Leaper. Pretty large.

T2R46258 would appear to be the black "F-type" badge? https://www.jaguar-shop.com/Badge-F-Type-B

Yeah...Not certain. Just giving you suggestions to help you find what you are looking for. On BritCar, this is what it shows for that part?

Maybe your dealer can start with that and figure it out? Or get one on eBay. It is just a badge.....not a functional part....

Here are the numbers I found, on this site: https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.../brand/jaguar/

T2R46258 seems to be the "F-Type" portion, T2R46540 seems to be the leaper and "Jaguar" portion. See diagram above.

(Confusingly they are both sub-labelled as 'Jaguar Leaper - Black' but I believe this refers to the color variant. The actual part name looks to be 'F-Type' and 'half-leaper & Jaguar'. They both live in the category 'Badge'.)

BTW I'm just passing along what I found... I don't know for certain the above are right for all cars. The diagram shows a convertible, for example...

On my MY2015 coupe with the standard spoiler (so same set-up as yours Lance) the leaper has two mounting prongs on the back which go into holes on the spoiler lid.
Plus the lid has a closed indentation under the leaper a bit right of centre, the purpose of which I have zero clues.
How do I know?
Coz I took the leaper off, cut the prongs off, painted it black and refitted it a bit lower than OEM!

The black badging goes back to 2014/13 and was available from the factory under the old version of the “black pack” option. Mine had it from the factory. Getting replacements, while I have not needed one I have looked, seem to be nearly impossible to find as most part sites say they are no longer in stock. The links above are a nice change for the better on that front.

There are some threads where members have plasti-dipped or painted theirs on their own.

I remember when I first joined the forum there was some discussion about that very issue and we never really resolved why the early cars came hit or miss on that option. Perhaps it was Color dependent and they only added it to the Polaris or Yulong white cars....but that’s a pure wild *** guess.

As I mentioned in my earlier post. They started using Black badges (or using them again) on the 2021. So any dealer worth their salt, should be able to put in a 2021 VIN and order the rear badges and you will have your Black Badges.

I have not seen the 2021 model listed on any of the dealer parts sites yet....but maybe someone has found them? The ones I have used, stop at 2021?

At any rate....You can see in the photo of the 2021 rear end...All Black

just swapped mine over with the genuine

leaper T2R46540
f-type T2R46258

tried to order the leaper from brit car but Jag UK were on back order - ended up ordering from jaguar-shop.com who had them ready to ship

i also bought the black R badge for front but think im going to remove it entirely - never been a fan of the R in front grille

On a pedantic point, early cars would have been Glacier White, not Yulong, which was renamed around 2018 (my MY18 TOPIx spec. clearly states it's Glacier).

there is no genuine black front R badge from Jaguar

Jaguar do have a genuine black R rear badge in T2R53738 but I don’t know if it’s same size

so I bought this - the badge was separate and on similar oe style backing so it might be same size
