Default Getting a 15 F-type R. Wondering about spare tire...

Noob question. I'm waiting for delivery of a 15 F-Type R and it doesn't come with a spare tire. Can I buy a spare? From whom? I did some searching and did not find a source. Also important -- does the stock 20" fit in the boot/trunk? Thanks in advance.

The trunk will fit a spare, but it won't fit your factory wheel with tire mounted.

If you get a flat, how will you transport your expensive factory BBS wheel and tire?

I keep a tire plug kit in the trunk. Patch it, inflate it with the included mobility kit, go about my day.

Wheels are staggered so you'd need either a generic spare or one front and one rear if trying to have an extra OEM wheel (which is not going to fit anywhere). If you value any trunk space, don't worry about the spare and just use a mobility kit like linked above.

There are some long and illuminating threads on this subject. At the end of the day keep your cell phone charged and your AAA Premium membership paid

Thanks for the replies! Sounds like I will just carry my usual repair kit and skip the spare.

I ordered mine with the space saver spare which I have with me on long trips or possibly into crappy areas of various cities etc.. Bungee cord as well so I can carry the dismounted oem wheel and tire in the trunk.

Jaguar sent me an inflation kit with sealer. I thought this came with the space saver tire and so I made an inquiry when the car came without it.. my oversight, yet Jaguar came through.

So, I always have the inflation kit and I carry a 'plug' kit as well. If a sidewall goes, I would need the spare.

I have had flats on other cars, including side wall, but not yet on the F type.

I think the car is delivered with either a spare or the inflation kit. The kit provided is similar to what Zach posted - includes goo, but no plugs.

Mine came with both a space saver spare and the goo/inflation kit.
You don't say if you have a coupe or a vert, if you have a coupe I know for a fact the stock 20" rear wheel with tyre fitted fits in the hatch. But it takes up waaaay too much room and it interferes with the hatch cover so much you have to remove the cover, and as mentioned before it's pretty pointless because the car has staggered wheels/tyres, ie different sizes front to back.
Even on my coupe the space saver spare takes up way too much room for my liking so I removed it as soon as I got a puncture plug repair kit to go with the goo/inflation kit. The whole lot including the scissor jack plus wheel brace plus various tools fits nicely in the cubby/box under the floor.

I thought most F-Types came with this
as well. A cell phone and AAA card serve as a backup to this plan. A spare is not very practical.

Yep; the goop/compressor and a cell phone + CC is all you need. Add a plug kit if you really want to get ****......no need to carry a spare, much less a full size one.

2 cents,
Dave
