Goodbye, Farewell, Amen
Ladies and Gents,
I am leaving the fold. I am trading my beloved F-Type for a Porsche 911 Turbo S that I've been lusting for one for quite a while. I've missed a couple by a day or so, but I found the right one (used 2023 CPO) last Saturday and am in the process of closing the deal. I'll pick it up Thursday or Saturday. For those that have never driven one, it is a f'en rocket ship disguised as a GT car. It rides better than my wife's C63.
At 59,000 miles, the F-Type has been bulletproof - nothing has gone wrong outside of the warranty and only a couple of very minor issues during warranty. From my perspective the Jaguar naysayers have no idea what they are talking about.
Thanks to all for the wealth of information that this forum has provided. And to the old timers on here, particularly Marko and Unhinged, it was great meeting you a couple of times at Cars and Coffee.
So that's it. And please feel free to contribute to my traffic attorney - I'm pretty sure I'll need him.

Congratulations as a Turbo is on my list as well. I won’t be selling my F to get one and probably the reason I don’t have one yet!
I’d be interested in your review after a few weeks of driving.

My neighbor's car is a 2022 Porsche 911 turbo S. The cars a coupe. White with black interior. The car is fast as hell. As the car is accelerating your ********* get sucked into your body. The worst part of the car in my opinion the turbo sounds like a vacuum cleaner. That was very disappointing for me. Other than that the car is fantastic.
So today, I drove the Jag around town and it was fine until I turned it off. When I restarted it, I got a "gearbox fault." This prevented it from going into any gear. I'd seen this before though it had been a long time. I disconnected the battery for 30 seconds or so, hooked it back up and the error had gone and everything was fine. As long as it makes it to Saturday...
To address Turko, mine is Python Green with gold wheels and black stripes on the sides and hood with a black interior with green stitching. It also has the sport exhaust which helps with the sound. But I doubt that it will flatulate like the Jag.

Have you eliminated the likelihood of your battery being low? This is NOT a “common glitch”.
An update on the turbo after owning it for a couple of months.
1. The boss likes the car. She never objects to taking it like she did with the Jag. I suspect two reasons - It is roomier and significantly more comfortable; I think that she sees it as a status symbol. (I see it as a really nice fast as hell car.)
2. The car is fast as hell (did I say that before?) It seems as quick as my BMW S1000RR. When going 100+ it doesn't feel like it.
3. The fit and finish is really very good. No sticky buttons. All touch points are leather, metal, or high quality plastic.
4. As long as you are judicious with the throttle, the car is a pussycat, but in sport or sport+ modes, it is a beast.
5. Fuel economy is surprising. The first day that I got it, driving home (1.5 hrs) then to my daughters (30 min) virtually all highway returned 28.5 mpg. I've heard stories that 30 mpg is achievable for sane highway driving. I typically get high teens.
6. Grip is incredible. Having AWD and rear wheel steering makes cornering intoxicating.
7. Burmester stereo is the best that I've ever heard in a car. It has plenty of power to hear it clearly at highway speeds with the windows down.
8. The PCM (Porsche Communication Management System) touchscreen is IMHO overly complicated. The sales guy sat with me for 30 min. after I bought the car going over the PCM features. He would have gone longer, but my brain was full. After 3 months, I'm still learning it. There seems to be some functions that may be paywall protected that are left over from the previous owner - This I'm not totally sure about.
9. No AM radio. There's a really good no commercial station here that's AM HD which I can no longer listen to unless I stream it using my phone.
10. Rear seats are worthless - but I knew that going in.
11. My F Type was tuned to 605hp. the 911 is claimed 640hp. 35hp shouldn't make a huge difference, but acceleration wise, the two cars are worlds apart.
12. I do miss the drop top of my F type, but the 911 puts a smile on my face every time that I drive it and I stated before the boss likes it - that alone was worth the price.

Congrats on owning probably one of the best engineered cars out there.
Congrats on the 911! That year is still too rich for my blood but would love the car. Owned 2 911's prior to the F Type R; 01 TT manual and an 11 S. Owned my F Type now for 5 years and love the car but missed the flat 6 Porsche feel, so I bought a Cayman S to park next to the Jaguar. I said it when I bought my Jaguar 5 years ago that they are just 2 completely different vehicles and totally different experiences while driving. Enjoy the ride and I envy you for the BMW S1000RR as well. Debating on coming out of riding retirement and getting one. Thought I was done with sport bikes so my last bike I bought was a Harley instead of the BMW. Really should have purchased the S1000RR.
You've moved from one great car to another, and, no doubt, a superior driving one. Congratulations and best of luck.
The best (or worst) aspect of a 911 is that it's doubtful people will notice it, or tell you how beautiful it is. I think I can safely says that, owning both. I get more compliments on my wife's F-Pace, than on the 911. My son is deep into Porsche and has a Turbo, Turbo-S, GT3, GT3 Touring, Sport Classic, plus a Spyder. I think the only time he's gotten positive affirmation was on the Sport Classic - and that was from one of the other Porsche owners at a Cars & Coffee who recognized it as a $400k+ car. I got quite a chuckle when he borrowed the F-Type while we were at the beach and came back saying, "Dad, you were right - I had 3 people tell me what a beautiful car it is." I just put my hand on his shoulder and said, "and you had to tell them it was Daddy's car."

That said, hopefully you truly prefer the car as your choice ride because, beyond an initial novelty launch, having a car that fast on the street is basically useless ;-0 (In practical terms)…lol…All these car will put you in jail real fast…So unless you track your car, having that level of speed doesn’t bring a whole lot to the table at the end of the day.
As for the “status symbol” end of things…Depending on one’s personality that could be a negative. It certainly would be for me. I don’t like that kind of attention personally, but to each their own. Getting used to drawing attention when first getting even this F-Type I have here was a little weird after driving boring cars most of my life ;-0 I still don’t really like it, but it seems to come with the territory of driving these sorts of cars. Seems unavoidable. Thankfully so far the reactions of people are very nice, and people who love cars seems to really love F-types and want to talk to you about them…Even if they have no familiarity with the car…
In any case, best of luck with your Porsche! You certainly could have made a worse choice than that ;-0
When I bought my 2024 R it was down to it and a 911 (Carerra S). If I can only one car (which is the case) then it’s the F-type for me. I do appreciate 911s though.
One thing I have to say is the resale of these cars. I love my F Type and have owned it for many years. I bought this car with 11k and a few years old for $52 and the sticker was $115ish. That would NEVER happen in a 911 and although they do depreciate they don't drop like a brick. When I sold my last 911 S and bought the F Type R, I knew resale would be most likely horrid and it is a "long term" car. It will be and not only because the resale but I love the car and rarely see another one on the road. So insane that I picked up a used Porsche Cayman S (07 with low miles) and KBB shows that the Cayman is not much cheaper than my much newer F Type R. I could never fathom selling my R for that kind of money. And when I went to buy this F Type R, I had a 2013 911 S that I was about to buy. That car ended up having a value about $20k higher now than I could have bought it for 5 years ago. Porsche hold value for the most part-sadly our F Types do not. That makes our F Types an absolute value and would imagine people will quickly start to realize how much of a car you can get for such little money.
