Goodbye V6 S / Hello V8 R!
So I turned in my 2016 V6 S (lease) and picked up my new 2018 R today.
Will (probably) miss the S on twisties but already loving the R power and exhaust note, even under 4K for break in period.
VAP lowering springs, Porterfield pads, and xpel next week or two...
pleasantly surprised the following items from the 2016 S model fit in the 2018 R:
- Coco mats (love them)
- custom tempered glass windscreen (traced from mesh thing)
Pics to prove it happened:

my local mom/pop glass shop sent it out to “their guy” (probably in nearby Sacramento). I believe you have to temper the glass *after* it is custom-cut.
i tried the plexiglass/acrylic versions (eBay, etc) and they rattled and wiggled like crazy - couldn’t deal with the distraction.
Others have raved about the Windrestrictor:
i think there are other variations on their website.
my custom piece was $120

Yep, JLR had to raise the engine a little to squeeze the AWD bits under which meant they had to increase the size of the bonnet (hood) bulge a bit as well, which in turn necessitated moving the vents out a bit.

Conversely, one can have glass shaped, drilled, ground, sand blasted, etched, water cut, and a host of other treatments first, and then have the glass tempered as the final process.
Love the darker color. Not that you had a choice, but I am still having a hard time adjusting to the hood change and vent relocation on the AWD models. The vent size and location on the RWD models has always seemed more geometrically balanced to my eye.

Once you learn how to utilise the AWD you will discover the R V8 AWD is far more capable than a V6S RWD in twisties, its vastly more stable and planted in high speed sweepers and on tighter corners you can get onto power earlier and it has a load more power to give. I had a brand new V6S RWD for a few days and though it was great fun, ability wise my SVR was just much quicker at covering ground at serious speed, helped mainly due to the AWD. Be interesting to try a V6S AWD though.
Congratulations.
Congratulations.

I saw your car waiting to be picked up when I was there on Friday afternoon, picking up the SO's Velar from service. I walked around it and admired the carbon fiber accessories and the wheels! Those wheels were more aggressive looking than most Jag wheels.. Nicely done!

I do feel like I have a lot more room with the new (for 2018?) seats. I’m not sure why they dropped the bolsters, I really like them on twisties. Jury still out til I get past breakin and can open it up and make some turns.
The lease was for 33 months, and jag financial (chase) has an early lease return program where the pay up to the last 5 payments if you buy/lease a new jag that is at least 1 model year newer.
One benefit of 33 month lease is you don’t have to register the car the 3rd year.
