I believe the context here was the juxtaposition of how affordable the F-Type was compared to a much more expensive and in his opinion, worse, modern car. He presented it as a no-brainer. Why wouldn't he just drive an F-Type given the current market.

Yes I remember his fun review of the "X-rated hardcore monster for the terminally unhinged".

I suppose I'm still just a bit miffed about the car's discontinuation.

Yeah that was funny (his shopping in the review) but even here, he has a car optioned with a spare wheel, not sure how in UK but EU that was not mandatory even then. So with the repair kit it is not THAT bad haha.
